punters behaviour - has he tried to rort the bet??

If he's the 'mathematical wizard' he's claimed to be; of course he has  . .

But the 'presumption of innocence' must prevail . .

Just as the rules that are in place to safeguard the corps against this sort of thing will prevail

Your expected outcome will most likely be the legal outcome

On purely technical terms the third bet in the multi was never on.  Slater won the Churchill medal AFTER Martin won the Norm Smith medal. The NRL GF is played the day AFTER theAFL GF, Slater could not have won before Martin. Can you back the Caulfield / Melbourne Cup double in reverse ?

Tabcorp should honor the first two bets in the multi and payout $36 X 4 X 32 = $4,608.. he should accept that offer. Why did they only offer $1,152 in the first instance, clearly the first two bets in the multi were successful, not just the Martin/ Slater double .

Maybe the courts can also ask why the odds should be reduced if the TAB allowed the wager and have they done it before?

The biggest rort is backing a double with the same horse or same game multi.

Imagine if I backed a horse to win a race and another horse to win another leg a few weeks down the track. My first horse won but the second horse ran a shocker a week before my first horse won and drifted out in the betting, will I get the longer price? Of course not.

But the bookies expect us to believe that one horse winning both legs should always be shorter. It is gambling and that is why multiplied odds should never change on a double.

He's got no chance of getting a payout.

It's an obvious manifest error and all the corporates have rules to cover that.

If the guys a maths/stats major he knows the legs aren't independent and knows he's taking the piss.

He should take the $5,000 - reckon he'll just get paid the $36 stake on the double ie $1,152 if he proceeds ..... unless they rule the bet is invalid and refund him his $36 because he's being a dick.

That would be like taking a multi horse to win the Caulfield Cup into a Cups double with the same horse in the Caulfield Cup and a runner in the Melbourne Cup ...... can't be done ... the events are intertwined.

Getting a bit off topic . . but still on doubles . . and rorts

A long time ago, when the earth was much greener, a mate of mine managed the TAB agency in a small country town, which was a bit like an alcoholic managing a pub, if you get my drift

In those far off, and computerless times, the TAB ran 'feature-doubles' on (amongst many others) the Caulfield/MC . . and country agencies forwarded returns, balances, 'live tickets' etc to head office, AFTER the running of the first leg . . true story

After a horse named Borehead took out the CC, at about 33/1, my mate  found the temptation opportunity too good to pass up; and he had 10 quid Borehead X 6 MC runners

Alas . . . Had he been a little less greedy, and put a couple of quid on each of the field, the story would have had a much happier ending

Said mate has been dead for 50 years, otherwise I would be relating this tale

Would NOT be relating this tale

PS . . This accounting procedure may well have been the reason for many feature-doubles returning poor value . . for some

There is a 10 Place Melbourne Cup Market on both Betfair and Sportsbet (and elsewhere?).

Intriguingly Sportsbet has ~10 contingencies >= Betfair.

Suggesting exploitable Free Money opportunities for the astute.

I've replied but as yet I've not received any reasoning behind it  emthdown Tried their live chat, she was legless & couldn't help  other than to suggest I ring up, she didn't get that it shouldn't be up to me to seek  explanation as I've not made the changes, it was lost on her

They are now in the weak as piss basket with Ladbrokes who are total myths.

At least you got the courtesy(?) of a letter . . mine just stopped happening . . (365 scrubbed my pre-post altogether, and advised by letter

You may also find that when you go to back one, the odds will drop, and after you 'refuse to accept' . . odds will go back to where they were . .

I still get 2 x odds boosts per day with Neds for my pre-post . . but my betting on the day is confined to B-F

Any punter they assume who is not a mug (beats the odds with regularity,or backs too many winners outside the norm ) will be restricted or even banned and will soon be shown the door.
If they had any brains they should let you on , then cuddle the odds or back it with another corporate to take advantage of your knowledge or expertise.

Apparently Beteasy is offering Best Tote for Exotics this Spring.

Don't know all the details as I'm not a member.

But wisely exploited this looks like an opportunity for free money.

BUM-STEERS -- TIPS FROM THE BIG BOOKIES

How could they have got it so wrong!

This service needs a credibility check.

Want a list of winners -- check out below the 9 (of 11) LAY tips that won on Group 1 yesterday.

Next questions: why would big bookmakers be giving us tips?  ... and why would we take notice of them?

........... over to you Sherlock.

There's plenty of high class racing in Melbourne and Sydney on Saturday -- bookies are back sharing their thoughts on races across the land. The bagman have done the form .....offer their best and value bets as well as the horses that they think can't win[/u] and where the money is going at the major Saturday meetings around the country.[/i]

LAY – TREKKING – Race 10 No.2 (Caulfield)
Trekking made up plenty of ground first-up over 1000m in the Group I Moir Stakes at The Valley but still might be looking for further than the 1100m of the Schillaci Stakes.

LAY – GEM OF SCOTLAND – Race 5 No.1 (Eagle Farm)
Has to carry 59kg against the boys and was reportedly going for a spell after its last run when running second behind a smart one. Have to be against at the short price.

LAY – SHADOW HERO – Race 7 No.2 (Randwick)
Recorded an excellent win in Group III company last time out but faces a rise in class and meets a Group I winner in Castelvecchio. Is substantially under the odds at around $1.75.

LAY – COSMIC FORCE – Race 5 No.2 (Randwick)
He started favourite in the Heritage and I thought he had every chance to beat Standout. Can’t see why he should be shorter here than that race so I think he is massive risk at his current quote around $2.40.

LAY – COSMIC FORCE – Race 5 No.2 (Randwick)
Good effort first-up and is a talented colt but I couldn’t go near the $2.30 on offer. This is a talented field and the map looks tricky for him after having drawn widest so happy to oppose him as favourite.

LAY – THE INEVITABLE – Race 8 No.3 (Randwick)
Last start victory was impressive but this is his first time going Sydney and with all the differing form lines this bloke just looks a little short for mine here in what looks a deep race.

LAY – GREYWORM – Race 3 No.4 (Randwick)
I’m not convinced the gelding runs a strong 1400m and there are plenty of chances in this, including a promising one in Quackerjack. Looks too short for mine around $4.

LAY – MORE THAN EXCEED – Race 4 No.1 (Morphettville)
Gets up in weight and going up in grade. Back in distance and all her recent form is on soft ground plus her record isn’t as good on a dry track which she will encounter this weekend.

LAY – MASTER OF WINE – Race 2 No.12 (Randwick)
Former import which has been placed in all his Australian runs without winning since arriving here. Looks a suitable race however want to see him salute first before taking the shorts which will be the case here.
