I'll stop short of outstanding and settle for pleasing.
Glad she hadn't bottomed out. I'd love to know what her trainer really thinks of her

Egg Tart slow to begin and shortly after was hampered by Francaletta, which shifted out.
When questioned regarding the performance, rider K McEvoy stated that in his opinion the
mare is now looking for additional distance and may be more effective on a more forgiving
surface. He added the mare was also disadvantaged by having to be steadied from the heels
of Raiment at the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
Trainer Mr C Waller concurred with the views expressed by K McEvoy and undertook to report
back to the Stewards if there is anything amiss with Egg Tart subsequent to the race.

She won the SA and Queensland Oaks running on from the rear of the field.

And now they say "she is looking for further".

Why have they been mucking around with a dual Oaks winner in mile races? She should have been getting ready for the BMW and Sydney Cup.

The dam was a daughter of Oaks winner Born To Be Queen (I think it was - haven't looked it up) who was by In The Purple a noted sire of stayers.

It is up the top

Unless your querying the race she won, She won a Metropolitan when it was 2600m.

It was the race I was querying.

Stud book is down at the moment but I think I can remember her winning the Metrop. Neville Begg mare?

Only her fourth start at 2000m or beyond yesterday :

2 Group 1 wins
1 Group 2 win
beaten a lip in the Doomben Cup. Group 1.

Hopefully that puts an end to the thinking she's a Miler.

Goes around against Winx today.

Has anyone heard any reports about what her main target might be for the spring.

 :x: it's the Caulfield Cup.

I believe it is back on the radar.

Two scenarios.

Epsom straight to Caulfield Cup ala Might And Power

Or

Epsom - Caulfield Stakes - Caulfield Cup.

What ever way they do it the Caulfield Cup is back on the table.

Just going on today's Oz in the Winx article......I suppose it could be interpreted as CC is ON the table after The Epsom  :what:

Unforgotten is a talented mare, winner of the Australian Oaks at Randwick in the autumn. She put another significant win on the board last start, taking out the Chelmsford Stakes.

Trainer Chris Waller has nominated the Epsom Handicap as her target race. The Caulfield Cup is not on the table as options in Melbourne will be considered after the $1 million handicap at Randwick on September 29.

Who knows what he is doing.

Another article during the week says he put the race back on the table when he realised he read the order of entry incorrectly and believed she was zero chance of making the field.

Sounds like he is using the same advisor that Gai uses when advising on Cox Plate draws.
