I've been completely out of it since the terrible news last week at the loss of Nathan Berry and forgot a memory post of the great Red Terror Phar Lap that died April 6th 1932...be lovely if Roy Higgins and Nathan can meet him in heaven.

2012 broodmare Risky Banter was put down I believe she was in foal to Sebring after missing the year before to Stratum who she produced Protector and now broodmare Miss Jackson who has been served by Snapy Halo.
Risky had produced seven for seven winners inc as well as the above mentioned Stakes winner Leapfrog and one of G.Ryan's consistant city horses Regal Banter she also produced winners Meld,My Shabella and a winner last week La Ranita.
She gave our syndicate a lot of fun and watching her progeny has been fantastic and will continue with her three fillies to start breeding which has started with Miss Jackson.

Liberty Rose dam of Grand Jardin,Pontiana who is due to foal to Pierro,Revengeful,Liberty's Choice and last weeks protest loser Liberation her last foal..all winners...the thrill Libby gave me was winning the Lindsay Park Guineas..her boy Liberty's Choice tried so hard to win a Guineas last season placing in every one contested and almost winning two.
Libby died this day 2012 in foal to Encosta who she had produced a colt Lake Spokane by.

Very sad. Was a great sire of short course sprinters.

Sequalo euthanased

Queensland’s flagship sire Sequalo has been euthanased after a week-long battle with laminitis.

The deadly disease claimed Sequalo just two weeks after the horse was named Queensland’s Sire of the Year at an awards night in Brisbane.

Sequalo, aged 24, resided at Lyndhurst Stud near Warwick on the Darling Downs for 18 years.

Sequalo’s highest achieving son Sprit Of Boom won twice at the elite level in 2014 – taking out the William Reid Stakes (1200m) and the Doomben 10,000 (1350m) before being retired to stud.

Spirit Of Boom will stand his first season at Eureka Stud this spring, continuing the legacy of Sequalo.

She gave us the best horse I will ever see in my life, bar Nelly.
Died giving birth to 11th foal.
Maybe they should be forced to stop breeding after 10.
They are not machines but are treated as same.
Very sad...

I think these two horses need a mention so they're never forgotten.Report from Racenet.
                                            Admire Rakti 7yoH JPN
Heart's Cry x Admire Teresa who's sire is Helissio.
                      22 starts 5.5.5 for $5,170.763.00.inc 2014 Caulfield Cup.
                                        14 Stakes Starts 2.2.3.
Admire Rakti passed away after finishing last in 2014 Melbourne Cup when he returned to his stall and suffered a suspected massive heart attack.

                    ########################################
                                            Araldo 7yo H.

                              12 stakes starts 2.0.4.
Araldo broke a leg after running 6th in 2014 Melbourne Cup when a fan waved a large flag as he passed by and the horse lashed out and kicked a fence where his leg was caught,Vets operated but were unable to screw leg togetter so the horse was put down unfortunately....Condolences to all connected to these horses and those people who tried to help both horses.

Thats sad news Matt .
He was a great galloper and a favourite wherever he appeared.

Gee I had forgotten he raced on the dirt in the States.

Thanks for the memories.

A terrible week for losing these great horses....Punters .com have written that Admire Rakti and Araldo are being cremated and their ashes buried at the Memorial Gardens at the Living Legends Property in Victoria...a wonderful tribute after our greatest race where both were lost to all.

It's been a harsh Spring for OTI.  They also lost Kitten on the Run in September when he broke a leg in routine trackwork.
