There has been a new development.

It mainly concerns those of you who took part in our last Lotto syndicate of 9th May 2015.

You may recall a pm I sent out afterwards ... if not here it is:

Lotto is always going to be hit and miss ... hot and cold.
We are getting warmer
Unsure what to do with the winnings.
What I'd like to do is put everyone back into the next draw for free, once we crack another quaddie.
And if everyone is happy, we can just add the $51.55 to the next batch of tickets.
That will give us more games, which is only a part of the equation ... the other part is luck!
JP
I have searched pm's following this, and can not find where these winnings have been used in any way.
Not in further lotto draws.
Not Quaddies.
No trace of it.

Therefore I assume the money in still in my 'system' somewhere, waiting ... waiting ...
Anyway - the old memory is still reasonable, because something nagged me to go back and look.
I believe that $51.55 still belongs to the old syndicate.

So ... I am going to round it off to $50, and put in an entry simply called "Syndicate."

We can decide later what to do with it, whatever the winnings.

Hope you do not mind my doing this, but it seems the fairest way to account for it, and will boost our collective exposure to the drawn numbers.

Cheers
JP
EDIT: Just clicked that link to the PM - of course it dos not take you to any pm.
But if you were in the 9th May Syndicate, it will be in your in-box, on that date.

EDIT: Have decided not to proceed with this - simply because of the legal can of worms it would expose us all to.
See post below from me starting with "Time for a reality check."

Geez Jimmy............so much interest!
Have to agree Goldie - there is a lot of interest this time, and that's a great thing for all of us.

Historically, and individually one could say that 1-in-76.7676 million is close to zero chance.
So far we can buy around 620 games outright for ourselves, for the pooled $540 at time of writing.

That reduces the odds to 123,820: 1 (round figures) ... still very rough odds.
But heaps better than 76 million to one. That's the beauty of all of us pooling resources.

Each person that joins helps all of us to better odds ... and with 54 members, $70 mil divvie still comes down to nearly $1.3 mil per share.

Sharing first dividend with a shop syndicate of 20, reduces our share to $3.5 mil to be split 54 ways.
That's about $64,800 per share.

Post here ... or pm your ideas on how the kitty should be allocated: all on our own ... some of each ... all shares in shop syndicates*
I'll listen, but make the final decision

* shop syndicates are the groups set up in-store by the ticket outlets (newsagents) that allow people to spend small amounts, but gain exposure to a share in multiple games.

An example:
You could purchase a twentieth share in 10 x System 8's  for $13, where you would have to pay $260 for the same ticket on your own.
That is the kind of exposure I am aiming for. It reduces our odds, and leverages our capital.

Time for a reality check.

While it seemed a nice thing to do at the time, I have been troubled by the consequences of even simple little things.
The $50 allocated to "Syndicate" has been removed, and for a very good reason.

We want a simple syndicate with no pitfalls and no legals to follow.

We have members who were in the previous Lotto syndicate, and not in this one (yet).

They could argue the 5 shares allocated to "Syndicate" were in fact partly owned by them, given that the money allocted there was a residual of the last syndicate.
Further, we have a couple (so far) of new members of this syndicate.
It could be argued they are not entitled to a share of the five "Syndicate" shares from the previous syndicate.

Don't think it is nit-picking - if $70 million is involved, people will surely pick nits!
And so will lawyers!

So, "Syndicate" and its 5 shares have been put back into storage.
We - collectively - will decide what to do with that money after this draw, as an entirely separate issue.
And only members of the previous syndicate will be involved with that.

For this syndicate: There are NO outside interests. If your name is not above, you are NOT a shareholder.

As stated above, the spirit and intent of the rules is to ensure the people who buy shares in THIS syndicate, get to enjoy the shares as purchased.

I want to protect that.

If there is no more interest by Tuesday afternoon, I will declare the syndicate closed to further membership.

Tickets will be purchased on Wednesday (Remembrance Day) and displayed in the header as usual.
I will update the header as money is received   emthup

Ive started playing the odd powerball game, paying for it online through my tatts account.

Two weeks ago a small diviend payment went into my tab account.

Just wondering what would happen if you won first prize would they deposit the lot into your acc?

Good luck to us.

the short answer Mono is no, there are payout limits, not sure why but $5k comes to mind, if you win first divvy you get picked up in a limo and taken to HQ for the counselling and advice and to cover off on the legalities etc .

Unfortunately I am not relating this from personal experience
