You did hear about the girl in Perth winning on MC when someone copied her bar code of the winning ticket after she posted it on her facebook page and cashed it in.
Yes SW - very good point.
However, as I walked away from one of the News Agents (a fellow I know well enough now to call an acquaintance) he said: "Here mate. Let me put them all in a packet for you. It'll keep them manageable."
Then he said: "It wouldn't matter if you did drop them - no one can claim anything without your card."
That's how it is in Qld. Not only do we have the system of registered games being securely linked to a card - if the physical card is not produced, then legit ID muct be produced, and a waiting period is further applied I believe, until bona fides
However, in order to avoid complications, I have taken on board that some dill may actually attempt this, and have deleted the tickets as posted.
I will cut the bar codes and re-post. People can no more claim a ticket linked to a Winner's Circle card, than they can using the actual numbers, which I will summarise and post in the morning after the rest of the tickets are purchased.
One other security point: When online, I can see in my account ALL of the tickets I purchased for this lotto.
They have the letter "S" beside them, meaning the entry is a "Store-bought" ticket.
As these tickets appear in my online account, as well as in physical form which I retain, the evidence is overwhelming that it is indeed our syndicate which owns full rights to each ticket.
Even if my WC card was stolen, prizes still can not be claimed in-store without the physical ticket AND the card.
It's a good system, and does protect winners even against their own stupidity
