Serously you can't see it's less than perfect? this is no long a comp with prizemoney put up by participants and a discussion should have been called for.

Of course the bloke selecting 80% of the venues each week doesn't have an issue with the rules in the current format and doesn't want to enter into a discussion about them, no real surprise there.....

OK two things the 50% completed rule is a joke when first few races are always maidens should bre greater than 50% to coun for a day

And there needs to be some variety in meetings selected please, it's become all too predictable and boring going NSW VIC  VIC NSW NSW VIC - yawn!

To avoid any perceived or otherwise bias have a nominee from TAB nominate venues rather than a participant in the comp
There you go,  a solution other than just an issue

On the contrary most sponsored comps rules are set and players play to them but you are the only one requesting a conversation but no doubt some others have areas they don't like. e.g Westie wanting less Victoria

Of course the bloke selecting 80% of the venues each week doesn't have an issue with the rules in the current format and doesn't want to enter into a discussion about them, no real surprise there.....
This one pisses me off. I did not formulate these rules I merely do the checks and balances and have no allegiance to one group or another. TAB will be involved at the end of the year paying the money into the winner's account and won't be nominating venues. Choose someone if you must.

OK two things the 50% completed rule is a joke when first few races are always maidens should bre greater than 50% to coun for a day Not sure this is a major issue as once or maybe twice in the year was this enforced but given the closeness at the end it has merit.

And there needs to be some variety in meetings selected please, it's become all too predictable and boring going NSW VIC  VIC NSW NSW VIC - yawn! The major racing states are selected more often as they have better racing, horses and jockeys. SA, WA and Old have far less quality generally but as I live outside of Australia I am quite happy to let someone inside the country run the whole thing as better awareness of weather, quality fields and no bias would seemingly be easier for a local domiciled

I think I have a solution.

We can knock back the Tab's $400 and I'll fund the 2019 prize, given I was the one who devised the rules when I kicked in  a few bob for a year's prize. And I was the one who cajoled SW into doing his thankless job some 10 years ago. It wasn't SW's idea.

Then the TAB can fund another comp with rules that are more acceptable to participants.

Not sure that is necessary  JWH.
I will incorporate more variety for venues but it won't be the best racing on that day every time.
The other thing is we have yet to receive confirmation on the sponsorship so I may have jumped the gun. Either way we will play for someone's generosity.

Okay.

So our sponsorship has come and gone.

I'll fund a prize for 2019 in the usual terms.( a share in a bet) of $200 in early 2020.

Winner must win  (Media a live participant) although not a prize recipient.

I've been around this competition for only one year and so I refrained from any comment on the way things are run here.  However, since Spudda has raised some points that worry him I'll contribute a couple of observations.

I'm delighted at the existence of the competition and the very efficient way in which it is run.  Results are almost invariably updated every day; the next day's venue is announced in plenty of time for us to do a bit of analysis.  The way the workload is distributed with Special Week doing this, JWH doing that and Westie doing his bit (as well as leading the way most of the time) is impressive. I think we move around the States well enough.  I agree there are a lot of Maidens but that's the nature of the beast with weekday racing.

I've had a lot of fun since I joined the gang last year and thank all, especially Special Week, for that fun.

OK, I didn't respond when suggestions for change were made but that's par for the course for satisfied consumers.

Eventful day one way or another but thanks Westie for your venue selection. Living in Japan I have such a great advantage when handicapping Victoria and NSW.
