Thanks for your patience with the delay on posting the final results. Also thanks for the nice words and thank yous for running the comp. Much appreciated.

Final Wrap

*  As we already knew Turfdeli had it wrapped up with a week to go and was head and shoulders the best tipster during the Winter Carnival so big congrats.
* Best overall place divvy prize donated by Wily Ole Dog was won by Fours who wasn't lucky enough to find a winner but still won a prize so well done.
* Most winners was taken out by Gintara who dethroned Brian Mc. No mean feat doing that. Thanks Turfdeli for the prize.
* Spuddas prize has already been done and dusted won by no other than Turfdeli who lead from go to whoa. Thanks for the donation.
* Best longshot prize donated by myself was won by Turfdeli again who cleaned up big time.

Big thank you to TAB and Philby for the donation to keep these comps alive. Thanks to all the minor donations as well to keep things interesting right to the end.
Could winners please PM donors or vice versa to sort out bets,  Good luck with them please share on here.

Great news is that we have the comp veteran PP7 taking back over the reins and running the Spring comp so stay tuned for the details.

As Calvo mentioned he has some family commitments and I will be running the next comp - same as has been in the past.

We thank Calvo for his volunteered time and hopefully he will be back to run a comp from time to time to give me a bit of a break.

Will aim to run the comp for about 6 or 7 weeks leading into Derby Day when the comp will conclude - other bets then can be paid out on the Cup on the following Tuesday.

More later.....

Thanks Philby and TAB account deposit has gone through.

I owe Gintara a $50 shared bet and need to claim one from Calvo I think.

thanks Calvo, appreciate your efforts collating results each week. Thanks ,mate.

We might need to adjust the $400 tipping contest link above the all topics banner as it refers to a comp from 2016?????  :what:

So PP7 approx kick off date and reasoning for a sprint of only 7 weeks?

Cheers mate, probably not this week, maybe next week. What sort of bet type do you normally prefer?

Open to suggestions.

One option I was thinking of was do the same as Calvo (points system) except with a top 4 with semi finals and a final at the end.

I actually quite like the current format (wins aside), as it give you plenty of weeks to find a winner and the scoreboard is normally quite open with plenty of people a chance of winning.

Mate I would be purely picking them on names and numbers at the moment. Happy for you to roll the dice and invest how you wish.

Mate can I point out that you are the Walter Lindrum of Tipping Comps and we have to work out how to change the rules so we can beat you

Seriously I am quite happy to preserve Calvo's points system and that is the way we should go.   emthup

Awesome., genuinely think that points system works well, as even if you are not on the scoreboard you can quickly pick up 10+5 points in the last weeks and get back into the game.

I agree that the points system Calvp used is very appropriate with this style of competition

Umm I'm not referring  to the points system for tinkering for the comp but now you mention it- in a 7 week comp a 15 point gain in any one week does make it hard to be run down, In earlier comps we went for considerably longer than 7 weeks. I am referring to cut off times of say 1 pm for all selections other than scratchings so that all players are on a fairly level playing field without watching 5-6 races and gaining an advantage about track bias, weather, downgrades etc
But then maybe the site needs to be generating the traffic for views all day on a Sat as it has been very quiet here of late.......
