Now we agree on something Peter
I've heard plenty of 'simple' excuses where the do-gooders suggest we should just love our dogs and be happy. If you derived your income from greyhound racing, how to you survive or even mantain what you have without an income?
For a start I don't earn my living from greyhound racing so I'll be fine and my two will live out their days on my back step (one there now) but what about those that do? I know of many, many people who have invested heavily in infrastructure, plant, set up and the like that will now basically be worthless.
Even myself, I purchased two girls specifically on breeding & conformation to hopefully breed on after racing, not for any other reason than for enjoyment but if I could sell some pups and fund my own involvement I'd be happy. Well now my investment is worthless.
Current market value for pups from my girls is $2k a pup from 1 & around $3.5k from the other. That's before either has a pup to the track which would only push the prices higher. You do the maths
This is setting aside that this ban will destroy a breed of dog and some of the worlds best lineage.
