Ladbrokes have a Top Tote + 20% promotion on Race 8 at Wenty tonight.

Reckon the 1 dog would have to fall asleep in the boxes to get beat.

He's steady early PP.

The 2 normally comes out like a rocket, last start it uncharacteristically missed it and I'd doubt it will do it. Probably not going well enough to win but has enough speed to cut off the red. Granted with luck in running he'd be hard to beat.

4 & 5 are slow early and I think your problem Wily will be the 6, comes out good and may just annoy the 7 who has a terrible record off wide boxes.
My picks the 3, currently $8.50, has been a model of consistency since making it back from injury. Can see him landing outside the 2 and holding the 6 & 7. He'll pounce down the back but it will be whether he can pick a break from the 1.

Anyway enjoy the + 20%, that mob is weak as  :censored: water  emthdown

For a bit of fun I've been reviewing the video form of dogs that have only had one or two starts and making a judgement call on whether there is a reason to back them.

After only 11 bets (don't get the time every day) and using a $5 place bet unit I'm up around 25% clear profit on a strike rate of around 50%.

Date Dog Venue Race Box Amount Finished Outlay Dividend Return Profit/(Loss) Running

Bendigo Cup looks a great race tonight .....

I've got

Zinzan Brooke  7/4

Jesaulenko 3/1

So I'll be on both of those.

Interesting runner in Race 4 at Sale this afternoon.

Perfect Storm - had five starts winning two but also has run last a couple of times.

Two runs back at Sale won over 440m in 24.58 by nine lengths - sectional of 5.39 coming home in 29.19.

Jesaulenko won a couple of races later that night running .05 quicker and coming home in 29.29 on the bunny.

Even when Jesaulenko won in 24.39 in November he came home in 29.20.

So Perfect Storm obviously has a huge engine but is still learning.

It;s a 6th Grade tonight and the one and eight have a lot of early toe tonight so he'll have to give them a start but if he gets some clear room it could be one to watch.

Watched its runs. It'll be brilliant from the 7 and 8. Got lucky tonight having only the 8 as a speed dog and getting a clear path to the middle of the track. That's where it has found trouble in its losses.

Will struggle from the inside later as it moves up in grade I feel.

Why aren't there rules that compel young dogs that fight to trial with other dogs before returning to racing.

Case in point - Magic Seal in race 2 at Traralgon today.

First up today - here is her last race - in the red box - watch her in the straight.

https://fasttrack.grv.org.au/RaceVideo/RaceVideo/126796086

Has a brilliant SOLO trial and starts odds on first up for a year - red box again today

https://fasttrack.grv.org.au/RaceVideo/RaceVideo/240698941

I have a rule I don't back dogs that have had less than three starts and if it's a Grade 7 or Maiden I always watch the videos to see if they try, so she didn't get me today ....

The basic rules are 1st offence is 28 days suspension, 2nd offence is 3 months and 3rd time is 12 months.

The dog has to pass a steward's trial on every offence and the trial must have at least 3 dogs before it can race again.

Magic Seal looks to have plenty of ability, but a shocking attitude.

She was cleared on 30th June on that track.

Also like Gregorvitch drawn out in the pink in race 8, currently $5 fixed odds.

Ballarat today -

Race 6

#5 Onya Sami with a speed rating of $2.60. - Has won 10/36 from Bx 1-4 and 1/26 from Bx 5-8 and in every win she has won the start and led on the fence. Box 5 today but she looks like she's in a race where there's a high probability she can cross. She's a bit one dimensional but at the current price of $3.40 I think the overs are worth the risk.

#7 Tim Riggins is second rated at $4.65. If the #5 can't cross the red his chances are better than that. I'll be also having something on him if I can get the price.

Race 8

Not a great quality race. The #3 Manilla Blue is a query. Hard to line up and seems a bit hit and miss at the start.

I have #5 Leachwood Lass priced at $6.00. The #4 generally lacks early pace and I can see Leachwood Lass having some space to accelerate and possibly lead. Currently available at $7.50 I've had some of that and will save with a fixed price exacta 3-5 later.

Ballarat Cup tonight with a great field lining up.

I've got Aston Dee Bee on top but I don't think it's any value.

'puter says only value runner will probably be Judicial Man and it looks like I'll be able to back it and also back it in the without favourite market.

The Consolation analysis has come back at odds with the current market as well - with Hone In and Crash Cobra being the overs.

A tie in with the Hone In form tonight @ Geelong in race 8.  #3 Blackpool Chuck was 4th in the Consolation race at Ballarat last week, 25.28, should be good enough to lead from here.  Also ran 2nd to Bewildering in the heats, running 25.61 in the slop.  Currently $4 on Bet365.

The NSW TAB running double and the UBET Daily Double were the same races (7-8) and I got both.

NSW RD paid $85.

Did seem the logical selection based on the class of it's last few runs.  Got $4.80 with the multiplier so was happy.

$85 RD seems a very good divvy based off a $7 winner into that one.

What a great day with the highlight being the Time Honoured Christmas Cup at Glorious Healesville.

Looking forward to the race but the market looks pretty spot on to me so probably not much betting.

My 100% market has : $2.80  It's All Talk - $3.10 Kid Carl - $8.50 Zipping Simmo - $12.50 Boof's Banjo ... and I look for a margin on those, so I'd suspect something on Zipping Simmo at $10+ may be my only bet.

Looking at the rest of the card I can't see a value stand out top pick.

Race 5 - Got Charlie Rocket on top but doesn't look value - I'll be looking to back Sleeping Slick at $6.50+ in this one.

Race 6 - Again I don't think the favourite Cullquinn Bomber is value - looking for Early Express $6.50+ and Samba King $9.50+ and Early Thunder $25+ here.

Race 10 - If I can get $3.00 Serious Bolt here I'll be on.

Race 11 - Turfman $9.00+ and Spazzy Blue $12.00+ is what I'll be chasing

Race 12 - Meehan Deano $7.00+ is top of my shopping list.

Good luck if you're having a bet.

Haven't had a look at the Ville today, but quick look through Sandown.

Laurels winner Dr Mino goes around in a restricted win race.  It's got more prize money than the rest of the field combined.  Comes up at $1.60 on SuperTAB, at the risk of tempting fate, that's almost free money.

Also happy to back Betty La Fae in race 8 #5 over the middle distances, currently $3.60 fixed odds on SuperTAB

There was a nice debut by one at Nowra last night.

Timely Tuned misses the start badly then chases like a mad dog circling the whole field - even think he had time to have a go at the leader as he runs past it in the straight.

Will have to improve his box manners but should progress to the next grade and maybe beyond.

That's what I thought, but that track is playing 1-2 lengths faster down the back straight and around 3 lengths faster over the 460 trip since they went back.

I wonder if they had heavy machinery or equipment parked or driving on the track.  :what:

Time,

He'll need to jump well as Startron actually has a quicker non-sectional time at Healesville than he does and the eight Belt Up Bubbles has an elite time at Ballarat four runs back.

Warragul Track : Does anyone know what work was carried out in the two month Feb - April break at the track? Times since returning have been substantially faster and I'm trying to figure out why so I can include it in my workings.

Didn't notice that  :what:

There is a Mixed 6/7 Final at Warragul tomorrow Tuesday (Race 5).

Confident the winner will come from 2, 3 or 7.  Bit of value in the 3 dog at the early odds.

There was a nice debut by one at Nowra last night.

Timely Tuned misses the start badly then chases like a mad dog circling the whole field - even think he had time to have a go at the leader as he runs past it in the straight.

https://www.thedogs.com.au/resources/showvideoplayerracing.aspx?s=youtube&q=S5YOjd2pSzg

Will have to improve his box manners but should progress to the next grade and maybe beyond.

Timely Tuned races in the Final tonight at Nowra (Race 3).

It is up against a dog called Tomerong Terror who won on debut by 10 lengths in the BON. Missed the start a little and from box 5 might not get the same luck as last start if it repeats the slow start but with clear running hard to see it getting beat on times. Obviously Timely Tuned is the danger if it can get a better start from box 6.

Pace is out wide with the 7 and 8 leading in their heats.

Another real up and comer about to go around at Healesville at 1.34 R9.

Eye Got It - won all of three starts breaking 19sec here each time.

Be interesting to see if it can go substantially quicker than Jet Blaster did winning the Winter Cup in the previous.

Wow  :o  First up from a spell, wins by 7.4lengths running 18.93 - 0.26 better than Jet Blaster (who had a clear run) winning the Winter Cup in the previous.

Liked the way he found his way over from Box 6 to the rail. Augers good if/when they take him to a round track.

Unbeaten after 4 runs. Highly promising dog!

Yeah. To run sub 19 four times in a row is really elite and to do it at your first four starts is pretty special. He does it at both ends as well - first sectional today was 6.45 that's really quick.   emthup

I imagine he'll have a crack at the Healesville Cup across August/September be very interesting to see him run in a field where he can't just highball it in clean air.

Healesville Cup today, good field though a little below last year I think.

Eye Got It was nutted in the heats by Raw Ability but stepped out today in a FFA and ran 18.779 getting fairly close to the 18.751 track record. He was aided by vacant boxes inside and out but pinged the start and blistered along.

Be interesting to see how close the Cup winner gets to that time - obviously it's a lot harder in a quality full field.

What's the go with the Traralgon 395 times over the last 2 months?

Suddenly I'm getting dogs with good runs at Traralgon over 395 coming up ridiculously short in my handicapping program. Like coming up $1.70 when they'd be $6.00 without that run.

Multiple runners running lengths better against par over 395m at Traralgon than they ever have gone before then not repeating by a long way, 5th grade dogs in the lower class $800 odd races running lengths better than the best 5th grade winners over the last 18 months in the $1400 races ????  Is it a day/night thing?

Something weirds going on there. If you have a dog  you like and it's best run is at Traralgon in the last 2 months be very careful.  :chin:

Tralralgon to me has always been a real specialist track in Vic. They are turning more than they run straight over pretty much every distance. It is a pretty tight track compared to most others in vic.

I really hate having to rely on only recent form from there when looking at other tracks.

Those dogs then go to the one turn tracks and are not suited.

The only distance thats even slightly similar to the one turns is the short course.

I don't bet there but I do include the from in my analysis of the tracks I do bet on.

The times in the last couple of months have been crazy quick.

It's worked out OK because I've identified the issue and can make allowances that I don't think are being fully allowed for by the market.

Got myself all excited the other day. Saw a slashing win from a pup at the bool on the weekend who ran 21.89 . The average times at the track are  over 22.1 or 2. Commentator got very excited by the win.

GOTTA BANDIT is his name but he’s had 22 starts already. 12 wins  :chin:

Really good field going around in the Warrnambool Cup tonight.

The eight dogs have a combined 255 starts for 134 wins.   emthup

The outsider of the field is Eye Got It - who has a few mentiones earlier in this thread - has now won 25 of 30 and is the King of straight racing but will struggle here.

I've got the favourite on top - #8 Orson Allen @ $3.40 - my second pick is #3 Whiskey Riot @ $4.20 he looks a big chance of settling on the inside behind the leader and may miss any trouble, just had a crack at the $8.50 fixed with NSWTAB  - that looks a great price. I've got #1 Lucy's Milo third pick just in front of #7 Dyna Hunter.

I've handicapped a bazillion greyhound races ....... but for the first time ever I've just done a race where every runner bar one has to be allocated a pre-determined minimum relative performance figure because they are so far behind the top pick.

Tomorrow .... Shepparton R8 D5 Husky Beatle

Wet and lazy Sunday - time to do the Ballarat meeting in full - think these are a bit of value - prices are current NSW TAB

R5 #4 Segovia's Dream   $11.00   3rd
R6 #7 El Grand Knocka   $5.00   2nd
R7 #1 Rose Royce   $4.40   2nd
R10 #2 Tiger's Crest   $8.00   2nd
R11 #5 Winlock Buttons   $4.40    2nd
R12 #2 Walk On Bye   $3.70    Won

Not all top picks but these I have profiling very well from an early speed perspective and consider them overs.

Edit - well at least they were all competitive - a few were very well backed including the winner.

Couple for tonight at Sale:

R5 #3 Muza's Angel    $11.00
R10 #2 Aston Valkyr    $3.40

Muza's should race prominently and looks overs at double figure odds and I think Aston Valkyr has a fair chance of finding himself high balling in front.

A few for this afternoon I think will race prominently and are OK prices at the moment.

GEL R05 #4 Aston Alessio    $5.00    2nd
GEL R06 #1 Pirates Patch     $2.60     Won
GEL R11 #1 Aston Tequila     $2.40     2nd

HOR R02 #2 Just Like Mum     $3.40     3rd - was r3
HOR R04 #8 Caramel Blonde     $5.00     Won
HOR R10 #4 Aston Pirate     $5.00     3rd - was r11

Last two legs of the Horsham quaddie have two $1.33 shots - Untold Soldier in R7 looks a genuine $1.33 chance however I think Last Hurrah in R8 looks far more vulnerable to being crossed and getting some trouble - still a genuine favourite but the $1.33 looks skinny.

Geez some short ones go down.

Race 2 at The Gardens. Favourite was $1.20 box 1 (might have eased before the jump).

Got outsped to the first turn and then never, ever looked a chance of running a place let alone winning. Caller said of the winner "this is the one they've backed at odds"  :nowink:

I can have a whinge sometimes about greyhound administration however I'd like to thank GRV for scrapping the introduction of I'm not a robot captures every time you accessed a dog's form in the database. The necessity to select various traffic lights, chimneys and bicycles sometimes multiple times every time I wanted to access an individual runners form was going to halve the number of races I could do in a day ..... so thanks for listening.  8-)

Greyhounds April 3rd

Best overs :

Bendigo R2 #3 Daph's Desi -  No wins from 10 starts isn't usually the best indicator for a bet but I took the $9.50 at TAB (still $8.50 Bet365). I have this bitch leading in decent time for the class here and I have her four best par adjusted times better than any other dog in the race. You always run the risk with maidens that a dog will suddenly improve but I thought the $9.50 eachway here looked like a mistake. After doing the form I was keen to take the $4.80 advertised in the early form so the $9.50 was a great surprise. Only led once when run down late by a neck over 450 at Ballarat so the 425 here looks ideal. Raced truly and railed well when leading at Ballarat and gives no indication she'll hang around for the others if she gets to the front.

Other thoughts :

Bendigo R3 #5 Olivia Twist - Have this bitch leading but in slow early time so fair chance something will beat her out.  Only had 4 starts and looks to be improving with her last start being the best par adjusted time of any runner in the race. I took the $13 TAB (still $12 Bet365) as it just looked way overs to me.

Bendigo R10 #3 Four Pillars - Only had two starts and both runs are good enough to win a 4th Grade (this is a 7th Grade) and about 5 lengths better than any other run by another dog in the race.  Have him leading clearly in quick early time ... looks a ping and win proposition. $1.90 looks overs but I don't bet that short, but have taken him in a multi with the two previously mentioned and a couple of others.

Geelong R6 #8 Meehan Ziggy - Early form guides dismiss her as having to lead to win. Well I have her leading here in decent early time. I really think she's a decent chance to cross and lead.  The 1, 3 and 6 have better par times but the earliest of those is about five months ago. Would prefer her drawn inside but I feel the probability she'll cross and lead warranted taking the $8 early with TAB.  (Still $7.50 Bet365).

Results :

Dasha Desi - got $9.50 with TAB and thought the price was wrong - was backed into starting $3.30 fixed. These are the bets you hope to make but unfortunately she disappointed and ran unplaced - winner having second start ran great time.

Olivia Twist - got $10+ after deductions and again this one was well backed into $5 fixed. Got the overs again but again disappointed.

Four Plains - led and won easily.

Meehan Ziggy - was able to cross and lead but unfortunately got overtaken on the outside and had to check off heals on the turn - ran on again and got beat a pimple.
