Ipswich greyhound trainer hit with three year disqualification
5 October 2017
The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission has disqualified Ipswich greyhound trainer Andrew
Clark for three (3) years.
Mr Clark was disqualified after an investigation by the Commission’s Stewards of breaches of the
Greyhound Australasia Racing Rules (GAR) allegedly committed by Mr Clark at the Ipswich
Greyhound Racing Club on the 6th and 7th of September.
It was alleged Mr Clark attended the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club on both days and trialled two
greyhounds while he was under a suspension order for animal welfare offences.
Mr Clark admitted to trialling two greyhounds on the 7th of September but denied doing so at any
other time.
An investigation revealed Mr Clark had trialled two greyhounds at the Ipswich Greyhound Racing
Club the day before on the 6th of September.
Stewards were satisfied Mr Clark was in breach of GAR 86, including subsections (o), (p) and (x)
relating to conduct that constitutes misconduct, the failure to comply with a lawful order of a Steward
and making false statements.
Mr Clark declined the opportunity to attend the inquiry and did not object to having the allegations
heard in his absence.
He was found guilty of the alleged breaches and disqualified for a period of three (3) years to
commence immediately after Stewards took into account Mr Clark’s disregard for the rules, his lack
of remorse and recent disciplinary record.
Mr Clark was informed of his right to internal review.
