Should be a top night at the Valley Sat night, hopefully not too many scratchings because of the expected 43 degrees forecasted for Saturday.
If that's the case I doubt there will be a gallops meeting in Vic on Saturday so Sat night may be the only meeting in Vic on Saturday of the 2 codes.

Race 1
Interesting runner No 6 Zaden.  Does come here with raps about him and he had excuses in his first run since NZ Cup where he only got beat 15m by Changeover.  Drops back to M1-M3 class here and not the strongest race either.  I pick him on top from No 11 Make Waves and No 1 Mevagissy. I also put 3 &5 into to fill the first 4 placings.

Race 2
This is a good crop of 4yo for the Bonanza.  Last chance Lance has the first starter from NZ no 2 Ohoka Utah.  Has trialled well and raced well in NZ.  No doubt Lance will charge on him to get the front and will continue to run them along.  He still is my top selection though.  I like the two McDonough horses to fill 2nd and 3rd with the 7 to run 2nd and 1 third.  The 3 & 8 are a chance for 4th.

Race 3
I like Lucky Eclipse (2) here a bit from the draw.  Fast beginner who ran a good 2nd in record time at Shepp 2 starts back.  Will lead and hand up IMO to Sophies Pass who is an each way chance. Harry's Lass will be running home fast with Broadway Play and Dillinger Girl.

Race 4
I think the 1 horse Notaswethort is one of the best bets for the night.  Did it very easy at Bendigo last start and from the draw I think will be very hard to beat.  Main danger is prbably Black Legacy who can really fly the gate but the 5 gate does not help a lot with that. Sammy McGuire and Charisteas are the other each way hopes.

Race 5
Derby Final and Captain Joy should win this now after the Barrier Draw.  Very impressive 3yo who did it easy in his heat win.  I like the 8 horse though to fill the quinella spot, did a heap of work last week and still managed to hit the line hard.  The 8 draw might not seem the best but he is a far better horse from behind as when he leads he always turns off eg SA Derby.  Crown Bromac was very impressive in his win last week from WA and I'm sure the run did him the world of good but from 9 will be hard as he does like to read in his races.  The 11 and 3 will be suited by the longer distance of the Derby and will be in the mix.

Race 6
Inter Dom trotters Final.  I am going for an upset in this.  Sundons Gift to beat One Over Kenny.  Really like Sundons Gift and especially over 2575m.  If he trots all the way will win (big call I know).  Obviously One Over Kenny is the main danger.  Then we go back to horses like Whatsundermykilt, Ronerail and Conquer All who will be rattling home.

Race 7
Not a bad free for all field here.  I like Cincinatti Kid each way here.  Has been a little out of form lately and also out of luck.  Back to an easier race here and will be hard to beat.  Back him Each way from 6 Pay Me Christian, the failed Stallion who is now back racing and is the interesting runner here on the way to the Gold Coast, will need the run but has the brilliance to go close.  Decorated Jasper also has to be included, far improved horse this season also on the way to the coast. Chuck old Sequoiahs Spirit in to fill the 1st 4.

Race 8
Hunter Cup, great field and this race can throw up some surprises sometimes.  Has been won by some of the best ever to race and is the time honoured race on our calender in Vic.  Who will ever forget The Mighty Mare Blossom Lady and Elsu and going back further the mighty Popular Alm and Village Kid just to name a couple.
This year I like I Am Sam, especially now he has a 10m advanatage over his main dangers.  Obviously horses like Changeover and Mister Swinger are dangers, especially if speed is on but also chuck in Karlsruhe as a little outsider, a little speed and luck will see him right in the finish.  I don't think the US horse can run a strong 2mile but may be proven wrong, and how will the WA form hold up, I don't think so IMO.  So I would be going 4 to win from 14,15 and 8.

Race 9
2yo race over the mile.  I think it's between the 1 and 5, I'll go with the 1 horse with a little inside knowledge.  Have huge wraps on this horse and when he leads he goes way better than when coming from behind.  Have him on top from 5 then out to a number of them including 2,9,10 & 11.

Race 10
Inter dom consolation.  Hard race IMO.  Thepowerofhealing has been flying lately with wins at Echuca and Geelong by big margins and then was not a bad effort in heat.  If she leads here will be hard to toss.  Crescent Glory will be hard to beat and then you would throw in Lleyton H, Right Interest, Solar Active and False Gem into this very open Trot.

Hopefully everyone has a great night on the punt.

My early thoughts

I really like Mister Grizzley in the first. I think he may measure up to the good races next season

I expect Standelle to improve in the 2nd but i'm Mark Antony will be hard to beat if he finds a trail

Broadway Play in the mares race

Living On Fire in the Derby. IIt'll be madness early and i can't see the captain getting in. The fire will ge a late split and fly home

Sam a special in the cup. 2nd best horse in the country at the moment

Well Race 4 confirmed one thing.

Nathan Jack is quite clearly the dodgeist driver in the country. The Seymour horses and his association wth Devcic first showed me what he was up to and toight we saw it again on Black Legacy.

Drove it into the ground to make sure the race was set up for the heavily backed Sammy Macquire.

1st leg of Big 6, nice little earner for nathan.  ;)

Well the  :censored:  should have let Black Legacy lead, then come one off.
Don't blame the trots, blame the strategy of the driver

You certainly know your stuff and well done.  I'm a novice with this type of punting but just took Cincinatti Kid in a boxed tri with 6-9 and 11, no cigar but hell you are tipping well  8-)

Well finally we see what happens when they bring a real top notch USA horse down here(litle Brown Jug winner).

Has come off back marks twice to win.

no excuses for Sam had his chance, and in fact got an even bigger start with the shambles at the start.
