Honan had some real good horses 30 years ago, one was Music Teacher, another, i think it's name was Express Post or something similar, it won a string of races in a row, a few at HP, had a big sprint on it

Honan's PRECISE was a good money spinner for followers. Good young horse.
Dont remember it ever getting beat when the money was on.

Back in the mid 80's Frank Willis had one called 'LUCKY PASTIME' at HP that had only a couple of starts,
as an 8yo & did nothing but then resumed 4 years later & won a couple on end as a 12yo @ Harold Park.

A special mention to Smoken Up (11yo), who brutalised a cracking field at menangle from barrier 9 in the CORDINA CHICKEN FARMS SPRINT over a mile in SUB 1.50 mile rate  :o  :noteworthy:  And on the same nite at Globe Derby trots, Andy's favourite also at 11 years of age, in a Monte race (for ridden trotters) lost 70 meters after a slow start, still 40 meters behind them at the bell, and simply levitated in the last 300 meters to win in a photo with Hayley Toulmin hanging on for dear life, caller Jimmy Jacques really raised the decibles in that call

Saturday's meeting at Isisford somewhere in Queensland, Reigning To Win goes around as an 11yo.

This was raced in the same interests as Racing To Win and Shooting To Win. Commenced racing back in 2005. Won at it's second start then won five in a row including the G1 TJ Smith (Qld 2yos), Roman Consul G2 and listed Brian Crowley.

Form thereafter was indifferent, but it did run 2nd to Apache Cat in the G1 TJ Smith (R'wick 1200m).

Having it's 106th start on Saturday. $890k in prizemoney. Won last start as an $8 shot. Hope they are looking after the old bloke.

Checked its form as I vaguely remembered it racing in NQld a long time back

Its struck a purple patch  :no1: winning 3 in the last 6 months

Bit of a shame they can't take it to Brisbane for a 'No Metro Wins' Race

There was a trotters race at Bendigo a couple of Saturday nites ago for veteran drivers, i think most of these guys are close to 70, a couple of them even older (pop Lang and Jimbo O'Sullivan), what a great idea, and you know what ? Despite it being a trotters race where numerous horses usually gallop at the start and in running, NOT ONE HORSE BROKE during the race, these dudes sure know how to keep a horses gait together    :noteworthy:   Look at some of these names, they go back many decades    emthup

this is something i haven't seen before, last nite at Lingfield in the UK in a hurdle race where it's common to see 10 and 11yo horses going over the tall timbers, a SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD went around and was unplaced, it was right in the market about 3rd favourite, as you can see from his hurdle record, he was a handy horse in his day, maybe time to give the old guy a well earned rest

We don't normally post 8yo harness racing horses on this thread but I wonder how many starts this bloke would have had if he makes it to 12 or 13.

Goes around in Gl. Park R4 tomorrow night

a 13yo pacer that used to race in Victoria and was mostly driven by the puppet, Chris Alford, now racing with a new zest in South Australia, relishing the easier class of horses he competes against, winning his last two starts. Can you look up how many career starts he's had, i'm sure it would have to be in the order of 200+. His name is DARTMOOR

this one has always had the same name to my knowledge, by my reckoning he would have been foaled in 2002 or possibly 2003, been a good horse at his top, earning prizemoney in excess of $400k

That trainer of Wrongly Accused got 279 starts out of a horse called Of Auld Aberdeen that raced through to the age of 10-11 so that horse would be on target to improve on that figure.
