The Major will lead with Sam outside him early.  I'd expect him to then take the one one sit off Robin Hood.

BAF will launch 3 & 4 wide
Mister Swinger, Changeover & Divisive will get the suck run of a mad, relentless speed.

No idea who'll win but this is just about the best field you could assemble.

IF Sam gets early cover I'm backing him to be the toughest at the finish  emthup

I thought the Miracle Mile field was going to be great, and i reckon this field beats it!

You're right the only horse missing is probably AR, stick him in and I'd be thinking this was up with anything i've seen.

I think he'll get all the breaks in this and I'm loading up!!!!!

Divisive drew one in the Vic Derby and sam sat 3 wide outside him and lost by a head. Sams a lot tougher now

Iron Hudge may be ready for you imposter tag unless he actually wins somethig soon. His last win was against gullicsan

Is BAF right, I reckon he's about 80% right. that wont be enough????

I luv The major but they'll run him into the ground unless he hands up, he IS a budding champ  emthup

LOL yet he bet I am Cat home 2 out of 2 in the Queensland winter races. Unlike I am Cat has taking on the top grade not gone back to pad his stats.  ;)

80% christ 60% is enough to beat home sam.

I wish i could own a few cats like I Am Sam

please explain what relevance that is to punting on a GC race?

"I am Sam won't even be in the screen as the winner crosses the line."

Was I right or not?  ;)

Easiest money I made this year on Betfair was laying him last night. Not a GC horse.

Being at work last night had to again resort to radio coverage.
Can someone tell me why Nat popped one off the fence after the start on That's The Spirit in the consolation instead of staying on the pegs and following Karlsruhe?
In the end the 3 horses on the pegs ran the trifecta.

ps. have no sympathy for those that backed I Am Sam in the biggy.
I ended up declaring MM a good thing after how earlier races were won up front and had a nice little place bet on GGC (from inside 2nd line)  ;)

Ara, thought you may have followed your good trotter Will Trapper

Has nothing to do with punting but the attitude is pretty piss poor in my book.
Having worked in the industry for 10 years i know that horses like I AM Sam dont come along all that often to 99.9% of stables.
Anyone could have said that the he was the lay of the night in that field. I made money betting against Blacks A Fake becasue i thought he was no chance to win from that draw.
Anyone with a bit of class would not refer to a horse that has won 27 races and $350k as a cat. As far as him not being up to GC class. I would like to see him lead in the SA Cup around GD. You may have to eat your words .
He is a bloody good FFA horse and not a cat.
I would have thought that someone who has owned some slow Greyhounds would appreciate the ability of a good horse even if he is not up to the top horses.

your right I shouldn't have called him a cat. He can do some work at least. And no horse should have that mantle, well at least not while Penny Veejay is still going around.

Good on ya Gamma

Any other horse in the field would have dropped out given the torrid run and time he had to run on Saturday.

Even you namesake, my favourite horse, would have struggled under those circumstances.

I'm sure ara has his tongue in his cheek to a degree

I am probably being a touch harsh on ara but it just annoys the crap out of me to hear reasonable horses desribed as cats.
A cat is one of the horses i used to own. Showed any amount of ability at home on the track and was able to defeat FFA horses in trackwork. Too bad the bludger was soft as butter and would not put in on race day. :censored:

Interesting to look at the margins. I Am Sam was beaten 23 meters as one would expect givent he run he had. The intersting thing was he finished only 1 meter behind Devisive although you cant really read a lot into it becasue Rixon got pushed back in the field and was last on the turn and never really had anywhere to go. He was only 6 meters behind Robin Hood and Iron Hudge who had easier runs.
What you can take out of the race is Melpark Major has certainly announced he is ready to be number 1.
Dont give Blacks A Fake away just yet. He went into the race without an ideal preperation and a crap draw. With Manwarra Goforgold getting caught three wide he was never going to get into the race. Pretty good effort to finish 6th given he also found a bit of trouble in the straight when Robin Hood got pushed into him by Mister Swinger.
Forget Devisive ran. Got caught in traffic and copped the backwash when I Am Sam started to fade.
Changover went well for 5th given he was last on the turn.
The other observation to make was the four horses on the pegs ran 1,2,3,4 in the race.

probably am over the top but I love tough horses.
Always had the death seat in the 3yo classics and got nutted in a few of them
His run in the consolation at HP was huge as was leading in the swamp at the valley.

i still think that if he got a trail he would have run a place the other night

As you said, time will tell

He strikes me as a horse who will thrive on the interdom format if driven smartly
