Thursday, 1 April 2010: Crack sprinter Swiss Ace has been purchased by renowned breeder and businessman Gerry Harvey and will stand his first season at stud this spring in New Zealand.
The son of Secret Savings will stand at Westbury Stud after being snapped up by Harvey in a deal brokered by Magic Millions.
A winner of 12 races from just 20 starts, Swiss Ace proved himself one of the best modern day short course gallopers when he won the G1 Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield.
Also the winner of two runnings of the G2 Sir Byrne Hart Stakes in Brisbane , Swiss Ace ran second in a G1 Newmarket Handicap behind reigning Horse of the Year Scenic Blast. JHe also was third to Apache Cat in a BTC Cup.
"He's an exciting prospect," Westbury Stud owner Gerry Harvey said today.
"I'm thrilled to be able to secure him to stand in New Zealand.
"During his career Swiss Ace proved himself one of the sprint stars of Australia with 12 wins from 20 starts and he looked to have plenty more in store until he went amiss."
"He's got a great pedigree and he offers New Zealand a complete out cross - virtually every mare would be able to go to him."
Swiss Ace will stand for $NZ10,000.
He is being syndicated into 50 shares at $30,000.
Swiss Ace hails from the same family as leading international sires Ajdal, Formidable, Arazi, Noverre, Exchange Rate, Air Dublin and Japanese star Dance in the Dark.
His sire Secret Savings was also responsible for the outstanding mare Shamekha and top Victorian galloper and sire Dash For Cash.
