Not far away (May 1st) and early indications are that last night's Wood Memorial winner Eskendereya (by nearly 10 lengths at Aqueduct) could start shorter than 2/1 for the Derby.

Oh yeah was insane...in that first run to the bend I thought some might slip.

Some good photos there SteveM. Run of the race was Ice Box. Gets a severe check when starting to fly at the top of the straight, picked itself up and flew home again, while the winner had an uninterrupted rails run the whole trip.

The 2nd leg (The Preakness) is in 2 weeks and it's undecided Ice Box will be there, so I'd be waiting to back him in the 3rd leg (Belmont Stakes) on 5th June.

Cheers Red - will the recent favourite [that was scratched] be running?

Don't think so SteveM, but apparently they'll find out soon the extent of the injury. Lucky trainer too, winning his first KD. His no.1 galloper(Esky) gets injured but his no.2 was good enough to step up and win.
