Betfair may get a toehold into mainland Australia via NSW.  Morris Iemma has requested his Racing Minister to hold discussions with the betting exchange.

Kato - they were agents for Sports Alive before its collapse. This application has nothing to do with the exchange - they are just seeking to operate there own fixed odds service.

Two Way (ASX: TTV) has entered an agreement with smart TV manufacturer LG Electronics Australia to distribute Two Way’s IPTV wagering applications on the LGE range of smart TVs, Blu-ray players, and home theatre systems.

Two Way has already finalised exclusive deals with two of Australia’s leading wagering operators, Sportingbet Australia and Betfair, to build and operate TV wagering services.

These applications are in advanced stages of production, and are due to be launched in the March quarter of 2012.

Smart TVs include a built-in connection to the internet, which can be used to provide downloads of movies, TV shows, games, and other interactive applications directly to the TV set.

The applications to be deployed by Two Way on LGE devices in Australia will be capable of taking bets, via the TV remote control, on all sports events broadcast by free-to-air TV, pay TV, or any form of IPTV.

The three year deal provides for a revenue sharing arrangement between Two Way and LGE for all revenue generated via Two Way’s wagering applications.

Fixed Odds Betting Launch

In late November, Two Way announced fixed odds betting was available via its TV wagering service in Queensland and South Australia following the granting of regulatory approval of the feature.

The TV wagering service now offers users the option of placing tote or fixed odds bets in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia.

Previously the service only handled tote odds betting, on all racing events, in all five mainland states.

Until recently, the option of placing fixed odds bets was only available to users of the service in New South Wales and Victoria.

Could anyone who seriously believes Betfair haven't been framing markets & acting as a corporate bookie prior to this announcement please put their hands up   lol

8 to 10 months ago they were actively advertising for traders so you are clearly correct.

Something rotten in this market.

My bet is that Jack The Bus will not leave the depot.

Could be a RF sting as the implied Odds from its 8.5% RF is well short of its drifting odds of 18.

Conveniently Betfair now seems to retain the withdrawal information for some time.

Jack The Bus did start, so clearly I was wrong.

Instead a near favourite with an RF of 10% came out a few hours later. And much later, two 0% RF presumed emergencies.

I posted just after the Lay Market rose above 100%. This apparent free money for Layers could really have been manipulation, such as I described earlier.

In fact this race 15 hours away might well be an RF sting.

Why is the Lay Market at 99.5% (near Free Money), when all the other Hunts are ~95%.

Why has Rose Of The Moon with an RF of 8.8% firmed into an RF of 20+%?

Why is it reponsible for over 50% of the Matched Money?

The horse has just firmed in the market.

I'm sure the reduction factor will be updated before any withdrawals are taken out of the market.

Finally!

Here's a current real life example of the RF sting.

http://sports.betfair.com/Index.do?mi=104754280&ex=1&origin=MRL

At jump there were no withdrawals.

And the Lay Market was an incredible 119%.

After jump the withdrawal miraculously appeared:

Note the RF of ZERO%.

Now look at the last bet I had on that runner:

 USA / Tampa (US) 27th Jan / 06:44 R6 5f Claim 5. Bold Cat Lay 18065566700 28-Jan-12 06:54   C4.9 37.16Lapsed

Bold Cat's odds were an amazing 4.90.

Yet Betfair couldn't be bothered applying an RF of 20+%!

What a phenomenal example of incompetence and and even bigger opportunity for corruption!

Methinks someone pressed a wrong button at Grafton. Zippy Zariz, a $6 pop, was always travelling well and $16 matched in running at $1000.

I believe online gambling is now illegal in South Africa, hence BF are pulling out. Online wagering looks like it will be made legal but may take a couple of years for the law to accommodate it.

Looks like this new Betfair product will provide Steve Fletcher with no end of dog sting opportunities!

Give or take this afterthought:

"
3. MARKET MANIPULATION

Betfair reserves the right to void any or all wagers made by any individual or group of people acting together (or on behalf of another individual or group of people) where Betfair considers, in its absolute discretion, that such conduct is an attempt to gain financial benefit through the manipulation of tote based dividends or official starting prices. This can include persons, relatives, organisations, bookmakers and their employees.
