A very under-rated jockey IMHO.................saluted another 14/1 at Sunshine today!  Doesn't have many rides, but when he does and when he jumps from a good gate, almost a certainty for a win or place.  flowers

What an embarrassing effort on the favourite Days Gone By at the Sunshine Coast.  3 wide facing the breeze from barrier 4 on a roomy track.  Shades of Larry Cassidy on Trump except maybe worse.

The stats say he is an ordinary rider - lucky he is married to Bruce Hill's daughter or the rides might dry up completely.

This backs up his boneheaded display on Theft yesterday - kamikaze stuff - getting into a 3 way speed battle when the horse is a query at the journey.

FROM RQ STEWARDS REPORT ON SUNDAY

Shortly after the start ROGERTHEREDNECK (E. Wilkinson) commenced to overrace, and approaching and leaving the 1400m shifted out on two occasions making contact with DAYS GONE BY (P. Hammersley), forcing that runner wider on the track and as a result DAYS GONE BY was obliged to raced three wide for the remainder of the event.

AND AGAIN FROM RQ REPORT FOR SAT

Stewards sought an explanation from P. Hammersley regarding the riding tactics he adopted on THEFT, which settled outside of the leader HANGOVER HENRY (J. Byrne) in the early stages, resulting in a fast tempo. P. Hammersley explained that he would have liked to have surrendered the position outside of the leader when challenged by ROCK HOME LATE (B. Stewart) approaching the 1000m but he was unable to restrain THEFT as the gelding was inclined to race fiercely. P. Hammersley added that he attempted after passing the 800m to again restrain THEFT to come back from a position pressuring HANGOVER HENRY, but THEFT continued to overrace and in his opinion this affected THEFT's capacity to finish the race off. P. Hammersley further added that THEFT has been competing in races over shorter distances and this may have had a bearing on the gelding overracing.
