HAWKESBURY RACETRACK

On 2KSKY this morning one of the commentators lamented the 'short straight' at Hawkesbury.

That comment sent me looking and I found:

Hawkesbury race track has a circumference of 2070m and there is a slight rise from the home turn to the winning post. The track surface is turf and the straight length is 380m and horses race in a clockwise direction.

Does this track favour front runners?

What was the crowd like, many reports saying estimate was bit over the top?

It is a poor track, needs cambering.

The can easily lengthen the straight I would have thought.

Track can be leaderish but it raced fair on saturday except for the lying about the track reading

Hard to judge. Certainly the stand and lawn area along the straight was packed (to the point of being uncomfortable I would have thought) but otherwise it was busy but not crazy. My guess would be that the estimate is fairly close (comparing it to say Canterbury when there has been a decent crowd there).
