Jim Cassidy, sidelined since a nasty fall at Eagle Farm back in June when he broke an ankle and four ribs, returned to track work today at Rosehill.  He hoped to do some jump outs or barrier trials in the next ten days and then be back riding in early December.

He will always talk about football or whatever with you when leaving the track. Has been a bit of a rogue but I would have a hundred Jimmies to one Glen Boss. Ring a ding ding Jimmy's the king.

Sporty, are you suggesting that odinary jocks become champions when they move to Queensland because of the low skill requirement?

Actually, I have always believed it would be a easy to ride up there. Much slower horses mean jocks don't have to make split second decisions. They can ponder on what to do for a while. stop

lol   lol   lol   lol  No offence but that is Ridiculous, whether they are going 60k or 63k makes no difference, the jock has no more or less time to make decisions etc

From SMH

Jockey linked to gangland boss

April 23, 2009

NOT one of the Australian horseracing figures found by a secret police inquiry 18 months ago to have had improper ties to an underworld boss - including a leading Victorian bookmaker, Frank Hudson, and the champion jockey Jimmy Cassidy - has faced action from racing authorities.

NSW racing authorities have failed in their efforts to take action against the Sydney-based Cassidy, despite law enforcement bodies holding information that he received up to $100,000 from the underworld boss in exchange for tips about races he rode in. Such conduct is banned under the rules of racing.

The two-time Melbourne Cup winner lied to NSW stewards when questioned last year about the payments from the crime boss, who cannot be named because of legal reasons.

When I heard the news about Cassidy, I was hoping it wasn't related to the above. Cassidy always had the ability to ride well but you had to guess when he was going to use it.   unsure
