Jim Cassidy, sidelined since a nasty fall at Eagle Farm back in June when he broke an ankle and four ribs, returned to track work today at Rosehill.  He hoped to do some jump outs or barrier trials in the next ten days and then be back riding in early December.

In more strife with Murrihy and his men yesterday

Saturday, 26 December 2009: Jim Cassidy's great run of success since his return to riding from injury was dampened at Randwick today by a careless riding suspension.

Cassidy only recently made a comeback to the saddle after almost severing two fingers in a gardening accident.

He has been riding in outstanding form with a treble and doubles at recent meetings including another two winners on today's program including the feature $150,000 Summer Cup on Kiwi stayer Solid Billing.

However his ride on Latin News in the second race attracted the wrath of the stewards as he was found guilty of careless riding inside the final 200m.

Cassidy was charged with permitting Latin News to shift out when insufficiently clear of Will To Win, resulting in that horse having to be checked when crowded for room.

Cassidy was suspended for 12 days from January 3 until January 15.

Cassidy notched his double at today's meeting on the heavily backed Mr Unforgettable for trainer Kevin Moses, a victory that also had him in trouble with stewards.

Stewards took exception to Cassidy putting his arm around Moses after dismounting from Mr Unforgettable before he had weighed in, a breach of the rules as riders are not permitted to make contact with another person before mounting the scales.

Cassidy was reprimanded for his celebratory gesture, action the champion rider felt was unnecessary and a case of victimisation.

VETERAN jockey Jimmy Cassidy launched a scathing attack on Racing NSW stewards, claiming there are double standards imposed, threatening to quit as a result.

Cassidy was furious after receiving a reprimand for putting his arm around trainer Kevin Moses before he weighed in after a winning ride on Mr Unforgettable at Royal Randwick.

"I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't believe I get a fair go," Cassidy said. "I've got my rights of appeal, I know, but they treat me differently to the others. I have only been back a week. They are not fair. Wait until I give it away."

What do you reckon Cassidy meant by that??????

Another on Rainbow Styling.

Was probably fortunate that he couldn't kick up to hold Rabbuka out.

There won't be any better rides today than the one Pumper rode on Mr Unforgettable

Probably the closest thing to a Horseman going around today, horses run for him, his instincts are as sharp as anyones and he isn't afraid to make a split second decisions

Saturday, 27 March 2010: Tempers flared after Melbourne filly Psychologist's Golden Slipper campaign came to an abrupt end with her failure inb today's Magic Night Stakes at Rosehill when she hit a brick wall after setting a torrid pace.

Trainer Tony Vasil was furious with Jim Cassidy's ride after the filly led the field by about eight lengths before compounding to finish 10th.

Stewards stepped in and interviewed Vasil and Cassidy in separate hearings.

Vasil blasted the veteran rider's handling of the filly.

"I'm furious, after 300 metres I thought 'what's going on here'," Vasil said.

"I told him she had blinkers on for the first time and to begin positively but be aware of the fact she had them on for the first time.

"He made no attempt to restrain her. When you go your first 600 metres in 34 seconds you cannot win. More importantly it's gutted the horse.

"I rode for 3-1/2 years, I've been a trainer for 25 years, I ride all my own work, I'm not stupid.

"What I saw astounded me."

Cassidy told the stewards he was dumbfounded that Vasil had not fronted him after the race.

"He did not have the guts to come and say anything to me," Cassidy said.

"Out there he said to me if it leads it will either win or run last, I bet he didn't say that in here."

Cassidy told stewards he didn't think there was much more he could do to restrain the filly.

"I certainly wasn't breaking its jaw like a cowboy," he said.

"I know it was going quick but what else could I do?

"I haven't just sat up over its neck and let it rip.

"Bad luck if he's disappointed, I was disappointed."

Stewards adjourned the inquiry.
