Cairns Club Asked to Show Cause--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Greyhounds Queensland (GQL) has asked the Cairns Greyhound Racing Club to show cause why its racing licence should not be cancelled.
A previous show cause notice was issued to the club last year. The club and GQL then came to an agreement whereby the club was allocated 33 race dates for the financial year with a further review to be undertaken in May this year.
GQL remains unconvinced the club is viable on a number of measures.
The club has been given until the close of business on 9 July, 2010 to provide submissions as to why its licence should not be cancelled.
The three racing codes will merge into one entity to be known as Racing Queensland Limited (RQL) on July 1. RQL will take over control of greyhound racing in Queensland and will also take over responsibility for the consideration whether the Cairns Club should retain its licence.
