Young trainer on two charges
Brad Waters
Friday, 2 July 2010

Young trainer Henry Dwyer’s career has begun on a bad note after Racing Victoria stewards laid two charges against him in relation to Laspiel’s scratching from last month’s Swan Hill Cup.

Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Laspiel after receiving reports Dwyer had treated the gelding on the day of the race with is a breach of AR 178E.

Raceday veterinary surgeon Dr Tim Russell was questioned as well as Dwyer and stewards were satisfied Laspiel was administered medication on the day of the race.

Stewards charged Dwyer with the breach and laid another charge under AR 175(gg) after alleging Dwyer made a false or misleading statement in relation to the treatment.

The charges will be heard by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on a date to be fixed.

Dwyer has only Laspiel in his care.
