We have seen all a lot of Jim Pike posts and while we all might not agree--have a good sense of knowledge.

I'm asking Jim--can you give us your best bets for each weekend on this thread with a commentary--I'm sure a lot here would appreciate your thoughts--especially now that the good horses are coming back.

Jim--we need you

I always worry when they claim on a Zabeel, they need hard riding, he doesn't like it wet, he loves Flemington and was going up a lot in distance, Thought he was going to win on the turn though, my rules are don't back apprentices with horses high in the weights, indicates a lack of confidence by trainer for mine, I hate Mooney Valley as well, (gimme the Geelong Synthetic any day!!) had small bet on him ($20) Flemington Good track with Senior rider I would have had $100
Backed Trim and Montana Flyer and took the Quinella, so day hasn't been going too bad!

you were right but mine was $30 and doesn't cost a lot to back him to win a Hundred, Spacecraft was shorter than MJ and didn't think he deserved to be that short, I can accept being wrong 4 out of 5, 1 in 10 and I will win, backing horses in the red they all have to win or you lose, I had a great day even without Royal Discretion

Got that Quin with Trim and Montana Flyer it paid $27 dollars and change, I thought it paid unders, didn't realise it was a deadheat for second so they halved the Divvy!

Thought for a bit of fun I would start an all up place bet and see how far I can get starting with $100 units and I would like to try to get it to $5,000 or more, if one misses a place I will go back to start and try again biggrin  Keeping a check on how much it costs in total to get there

Might try a win all up(on the same horses) and see which one gets to $5,000 first as well(if either does)

I will be using best of the best TAB dividend to calculate dividends and will be betting anywhere I think I can get a dividend(Thoroughbreds only)

Hi Jim,

Hmmmm takes around 10 in a row to get there at an average divvy of just under $1.50.

I wont join you but suggest you consider splitting each bet into two to help the allup be successful at the cost of taking twice as many bets.

That is have two $50.00 bets and add them together as the result of '1' $100 bet.

You might even consider splitting 3 times.

It can be an interesting exercise to determine which approach gets you to $5000.00 or any other target more often.

Mind you my longest consecutive run of places is 42 ..... on the dogs... and small pools mean this is not realy viable for a decent target. On the horses my longest run is much much more humble.

Fours it won't be with "real" money, just a bit of fun, if I have no luck working without a net I might look at applying different rules and see which one works
