I am not au fait with the politics in QLD so pardon my ignorance but late nom for what?? and what is wrong with it?? I mean Malcolm Fraser and the rest of the Libs weren't happy with the appointment of Bob hawke as leader of the Opposition either, that is not evidence that there is something wrong with it!!
In saying that I am not really interested in the details, just if you are going to state opinions as facts that defame  someone it is a good idea to state why you think what you think(or think you know)

In the citation read out last night, emphasis was given to Bob's role in rescuing Ipswich Turf Club in the 1990s.    unsure

The journos could have missed Bob's name on the ballot paper.  Or maybe there was a reasonable presumption that everyone would vote for him, and to give advance notice of his induction could detract from the surprise element of last night's announcement.

I guess all the RQ directors will eventually find spots in the Qld Racing HOF.

Jim Pike

You need to know the history of racing governance in Qld for the last decade.  Simply put, Bob Bentley is either hated or feted and nothing in between.

A contraversial character, to say the least, so a HOF induction was surprise.

The MC was very quick on his feet when realising the 'surprise' in the room and quickly swapped the inductee order when asking for a round of applause for - Bob Bentley and Pam O'Neil  blush

I'm assuming your mention of defamation doesn't refer to my good self and ted's an old hand at  spear throwing and dodging writs. thumbsup

But to get back to the SM report it said Bob wasn't in the original noms and in being inducted he headed Glen Boss and Brian Mayfield-Smith.

So the voting panel, whoever they may be, thinks Bob deserves more recognition than the above mentioned. chin

My opinion is that most wouldn't concur, although Bob has put a lot of effort ,much of it not appreciated, till now, since he took over running the show. shocked

Anyone know who the voting panel is/was as  " letsgohorseracing" website only says "industry stakeholders"     what

Also says................... "Bob Bentley's name was not put forward earlier because he would have asked for it to be removed from the list"

The panel is a motley crew of media people, others in racing admin, etc.

I think it was only fair that Bob's name was not on the ballot paper seen by others.  He woulda asked it to be removed, and/or it might have detracted from the obvious surprise afforded him on the night.
