Ghostmilk has been very very good for me--her acceleration on a wet track is high quality and she is well placed here

First Michelle Payne, now Michael Rodd, have given Faint Perfume no chance whatsoever.  Do you reckon if she was trained by someone other than Bart the stewards would want some "please explains" about the rides?

In races with a tearaway leader, people will often tell you the hardest thing to do is take the field up to a tearaway leader.  I will tell you the easiest way to win a race with a tearaway leader is - stalk it.

Not just her though - the whole race was well......weird!!!!!

Won't be following the form out of it that's for sure.

again FP and Val are being set for long races, to be ridden upside down to suit this race was never going to happen,
That is the beauty with Gai, you can back her horses confidently knowing that they won't come back with the excuse that the race wasn't run to suit!! They seem to handle everything, pace is irrelevant cos they are always willing to take it up if no one wants it, they nearly always handle wet tracks or dry, they always have top riders on(except at the provincials on weekends) when she has a good thing in they win more often than anyones

I don't want them ridden upside down, but some urgency off the back when you could see what was happening please.

Bizarre race, by the way they were strung out seemed they went too hard early on, yet nothing made much ground from the back.  I wouldn't be backing any of Val of FP next start after their last 2 runs.  Although Flemington might suit them both better.

You have to accept that these horses are not at their peak or anywhere near it and will probably improve as their preps continue, be careful writing them off too early as disappointing, especially Bart's, remember Bart is in Hospital and not overseeing them, if they were trained in Reg flemings name what price would Faint Perfume have been?? I would hazard a guess that she would have been a little longer!

Probably being the important word.

Faint Perfume is now a 4yo mare, and there must be the doubts creeping in as to whether she has come up. By Bart's standards, FP's two runs this time in have been very average. In fact, her only 3 career runs in open company (the Coolmore being the other) she has been an abject failure. I'm not going to waste any more money on her until she shows something in the top grades.

PP you know who was traing her last time?? J.B. Cummings!!
You know who is training her now??? Reg Fleming!!
Bart doesn't let the underlings put pressure on them when he isn't there, believe me FP will improve when Bart gets to Melbourne!!

If she improves Jim, I'll be the first one back on the bandwagon. But I would just like to see something a bit more than what we have seen.

And I know, everyone wrote Viewed off before he won his Cup, but he was a male. Call it a gut feeling. I think she is not far off going to the breeding barn. Happy to be corrected if I turn out to be wrong.
