We saw Foreplay 3yo HAVATRYST win the Open 3yo at Doomben today at just his second start.  On debut he'd demolished a field of questionable quality in a mid-week Mdn at EF.

While he scored in a nail-biting finish today, it was the manner in which he won that had observers talking.  Heavily backed into favouritism on the wet track, he was hunted out by Munce from an outside draw.  He didn't get an easy lead, and was taken on by several in the straight.  But he showed rare courage to get the prize from smart filly Wonderful Lass.  Some were asking whether he'd been comfortable on the wet surface.  If he wasn't, it's bad news for his opponents.

One of our forum mates is in the ownership of HAVATRYST and cleaned up today.  (I'll leave it to him to identify himself.)  Suffice to say he enjoys a beer and I expect will be doing that right now.   lol

It certainly was a good (and exciting) win!

And I'm sure there's plenty more in store...

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Well to say today has been a hoot would be understating it somewhat.

We were very confident about his first win 11's into 7's but when the rain came today we were not sure how he would perform.
He didn't let us down and though it was a very skinny win in the end it was full of merrit from a wide draw and a wet track.

Not sure if you have noticed but the Foreplays are winning everywhere and currently leading the 2nd season sires list.

Fingers crossed he can continue on his way.

One thing's certain, if the horse keeps winning the BRC hospitality budget will be well into the red.
