Yet another jockey is rushed to a metropolitan hospital after a fall during a race. Clinton Payne from
racenet.com.au reports that Jockey
Darryl Johnston has been airlifted to a Brisbane hospital after a serious fall at Rockhampton on yesterday.
Johnston aboard Easy Harmony and former Sydney based apprentice
William Morris on The Noss both fell in the Hahn Premium Maiden Plate over 1300m near the 1100 metres.
“I’m not aware of the extent of the injuries to either rider but I can tell you Darryl Johnston has been airlifted to Brisbane for further testing,” Rockhampton Senior Steward Paul Gillard said.
“All I know is his injuries are of a serious nature.”
Stewards opened an inquiry into the fall and took initial evidence from other riders but have adjourned it to a date to be fixed.
