I know the Cox Plate is getting all the attention...and so it should. But fair dinkum...I am looking forward to (finally) a good sprint race with quality horses.

I've long thought the MVRC should pump some money into this race, get it up around the $1mill prizemoney mark, eventually push for Group 1 status & market it as the WFA sprint championship of Australasia. With the field they have this year it effectively is

No race, run at the Valley can be or should be considedred the championship race of its kind of Australia.

With the field they have this year it effectively is There is the G1 WFA 1200m race on Stakes Day.

With the field they have this year it effectively is Or essentially switch this race (it is the Moir isn't it) and the Manikato, and pump up the prize money. Actually, I would like to see the same done to the MV Cup (and an increase in distance to 3000m) and run a UK style carnival - say Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Won't happen, if for no other reason than it would stuff up the night season, but I can dream. I hope Black Caviar turns up, race of the Spring if she does.

What a clash. Not much speed inside BC except HL so either of them could lead and the other sitting outside. More speed from those drawn wide, that makes Avenue either 3-wide the trip or hope to slot in the 1/1 possie. Hot Danish will try to kick up behind the leader or end up 3 back on the rails. Gerald Ryan reckons Hay List still needs to prove it in the high class so maybe Melito and co. will move forward at around the 600m mark and apply the pressure (if they can  )
