I know the Cox Plate is getting all the attention...and so it should.
But fair dinkum...I am looking forward to (finally) a good sprint race with quality horses.

It is strange that they have all gathered for a Group 2 race at Moonee Valley  chin

I've long thought the MVRC should pump some money into this race, get it up around the $1mill prizemoney mark, eventually push for Group 1 status  & market it as the WFA sprint championship of Australasia. With the field they have this year it effectively is noteworthy

Or essentially switch this race (it is the Moir isn't it) and the Manikato, and pump up the prize money.

Actually, I would like to see the same done to the MV Cup (and an increase in distance to 3000m) and run a UK style carnival - say Friday/Saturday/Sunday.  Won't happen, if for no other reason than it would stuff up the night season, but I can dream.

I hope Black Caviar turns up, race of the Spring if she does.

How can a race that will go no longer than 70 seconds be considered the race of the season ?

Te same reason, the 100m sprint in the Olympics, is the draw card

What a clash. Not much speed inside BC except HL so either of them could lead and the other sitting outside. More speed from those drawn wide, that makes Avenue either 3-wide the trip or hope to slot in the 1/1 possie. Hot Danish will try to kick up behind the leader or end up 3 back on the rails.

Gerald Ryan reckons Hay List still needs to prove it in the high class so maybe Melito and co. will move forward at around the 600m mark and apply the pressure (if they can  smiley )
