Saw a bit of "Off The Beaten Track" from EF Wednesday interviews on the sudden death of Stathi.

Young Mitchell Wood was one on screen, looked very professional and well spoken. thumbsup

He was exceptionally well dressed, nice light suit, matching shirt and tie stood out from the crowd mostly casually dressed.

Good luck to him. beer

Seems a bit over the top, one way to fix it though, keep em straight chin
[/qu

over the top is a understatement doing trials solves nothing maybe better seeking out a senior rider to spend time with the kids be a better solution in august they nominated him for app of the yr and won the gold coast premiership in his first yr now they do this all i can see is a talented kid walking away from the game

Why not drop his metro license, have him ride in the provincials, pull him aside and have a chat to him, and get some older jockeys to mentor him  what

Would have been much more productive

heirachy have seen it in their wisdom to take his licence off him for too many suspensions has to complete trials to their satisfaction to be relicenced  what mad censored

Seems very harsh.
I think he rides alright.

Could you tell us, Proud Dad, a few of his stats, like how many career rides, how many winners and how many suspension?
I am sure you keep the figures.

Thanks and good luck to Mitchell

Just read your edit.
9 suspensions in the past 12 months is not a good record.
I don't know what they were for, but as a punter I am happy for him to be knocking them down- as long as I am on  lol

I agree  Thumb Up

There are many riders I would send back to the trials before Mitchell.

What weight does he ride at at the moment PD?

Maybe the stewards are being extra careful given his record. I recall some flack over Josh Jones receiving about 9 suspensions in 18 months before that fateful and tragic day a few years ago.
It's a tough game and exuberance can get the better of younger jocks trying to make a name for themselves.

can ride 51kg when ridng regular has a 52kg restriction on him at the moment has to work hard on his weight this might just be the end of him if the stewards take too long in relicencing him as being young very hard to keep motivated if not in the saddle but will be doing my best

even after the tragic accident he josh was not releived of his licence he was put on a 3 month good behavior bond he broke that bond and was sent back to non metro meeting but after submissions from prominent trainers his metro licence was reinstated proper tuition from better qualified people would go along way not just with mitchell but apprentices in general

good post PD. All to often is an us and them mentality like the jockeys are the other side. Why no work in together and point these riders in the right direction.
Yes there are services available but the riders are not forced to undertake training or advice. Where all to politically correct nowdays.

Would you say in the old days if the stewards were concerned about a certain rider they would have pulled them aside and addressed problems before they had to act ?

yes that would of been the smartest thing to do or have him sit down go though videos with a respected top senior i know most are willing to give up their time to help the young lads coming through stathi really enjoyed helping the kids by doing this qld could lose and a up and coming riders and they are alsways harping on about the lack of interest in recruiting new kids to the sport

PD, might be wise not to say too much on here.  It is open for everyone to read , including the powers that be.

I'd hate them to use something that you say on here against you and the boys.

Hope things work out for you all.
