I have a dormant account with Betfair and it's going to stay that way.

Tried to withdraw a lousy $100, and they read the rule book out at me because I'd deposited some poker winnings via Neteller a long time ago. Said I had to deposit it back to Neteller in spite of the fact I had supplied Betfair with 100 points of ID when they first started. Tried to explain to them I don't use Neteller any more but they wouldn't shift.

Make sure you have the rules read out to you about withdrawls before betting with this mob.

Mate it's a bit late now.

They (Betfair) insisted I close the Neteller account before they would pay out to another account, so I emailed Neteller and asked them to close the account. They (Neteller) responded by saying that they needed to have a copy of my drivers license and a copy of a bill with my name on it. Quite stupidly, I sent it!

Next thing, Neteller emails me back saying it was unacceptable because "the corners were clipped" on the scan of my license. When I checked it, this was obviously bullshit. I emailed them back saying that their reason for rejection was trivial and unacceptable. They responded that they would ring me. Still waiting for the phone call several months later.

So the net outcome for me is that Betfair have forced me to send a copy of my license and another document to some dodgy person/organisation and god knows what fraud is going to be conducted as a result of this. I'm holding Betfair responsible for any fraud that occurs  rant A lousy $100. They've got to be joking!

Betfair say they cannot deposit back against an Australian Visa card, but Pokerstars regularly deposit against my Australian Visa card. Added to this is the fact that Betfair have deposited direct into my bank account in the past!

If you leave a BF account dormant for a long time they close it down and send the balance to some goverment department in Tasmania - without informing you - then you have to send said government department a form signed by lawyer or similar to get your money back, not good.

To balance PP7 - had my all my poker accts hacked and emptied including neteller - when let my virus protection run a few days over expiry. After dealing with Neteller where they ensure the best security and i was breached from european country - they agreed to refund my 9K - which i had resigned myself to losing , no luck from the poker companies but were much smaller amounts.
betfair rang me when they suspected someone was trying to breach my acct and were happy to send money to my bank despite neteller deposits (but this may have been coz my netteller acct had been breached).
personally i find the betfair staff surprisingly good to deal with on occasions of using the phone

Wrong.

The obfuscating T&C cannot hide the fact that the 20% refers to only the winning portion of your bet.

Certainly consistent with the bonuses I received.

Well I rang them with the specific query and after having the person check it with someone else - I was told the 20% is on the whole dividend. I was told if I backed a horse that had a best tote of $5.00 the guaranteed price would be $6.00 NOT $5.80.

I couldn't figure out exactly how they worked out my bonus on Geelong Cup day - but my working were closest when using 20% on the whole divy.

Have you check the exact workings of your payouts jfc?

And really mate, your propensity to abuse or insult people rather than just have a discussion with them wears a little thin.

As a test I had this bet on R4 on Geelong Cup day.

It was the only winner I backed at SP all day.

The best TAB divy was $3.50.

I received a bonus of $56.13.

My bets were :

Selection   Odds   Stake($)   Bid type   Placed   Profit/loss($)

4. The Comedian  3.26  66.00  Back 20-Oct-10 12:32  149.18
4. The Comedian  3.45  30.00  Lay  20-Oct-10 12:32  -73.50
4. The Comedian  3.26  14.59  Lay  20-Oct-10 12:32  -33.00

*Average odds: On Off  Back subtotal:  149.18

Lay subtotal:  -106.50

Market subtotal:  42.68

Commission @ 4.9%:  2.09

Net Market Total:  40.59

*******************************************

The 3.26 bet and the 3.26 lay were at SP.

If the 20% is on the div less stake the guaranteed price would b $$4.00 - with a bonus of 74c - $4.00-$3.26.

Even if they didn't net off my SP lay against my SP bet the max I could get would be 66 X 74c = $48.84 - even if they pay me back my commission I can't get to $56.13.

I am not in a position to check my figures since they are buried in 5,000 pages of my non-Australian Account Statement.

If you spoke to their HelpDesk (as I did this morning) you could well have received some oral platitude from someone unaware of the implications, that has no legal weight should this enter the dispute phase.

So you haven't verified the workings of your bonus.

Got any idea why I got $56.13.
