RANDWICK ON SATURDAY: WHY ARE WE PAYING $70,000 FOR BENCHMARK '80' RACES?

I would expect that many of the horses racing at Randwick on Saturday would be willingly sold for a price well below the prizemoney on offer for winning.

Why is money contributed by TAB punters being wasted in this way?

No doubt, on Saturday, NSW punters will be betting mostly on the first class races run in Melbourne -- and to add insult to this injury, the levy that RacingNSW should be paying to RacingVictoria will be covered by Tabcorp as a consequence of a (dirty?) deal.

There is something not right about all this -- especially in NSW.

What sort of a 'crowd' is likely to attend Randwick racetrack on Saturday -- what impression will a 'crowd' of that size make on the sense of spending $125 m on a new set of 'race viewing facilities' at Randwick.

Is there any commonsense in play in this game?

disagree peter, closer to good than dead

digress slightly but they need they to fix the camera position of the ground shot at warwick farm, in race 5 the ground shot clearly showed rarefied with a margin but the long shot correctly showed news alert with a margin(and winner)

I noticed that the other day in Ziprossa's race.Ilt looked like Ziprossa had just held on,saw the the ground shot looked like it ran second.

I am not sure how the facts on times run for the non-sprint races can be 'disagreed'

The most reliable source of times and sectionals being run on the day is Racenet  -- and once I got the message that the track was 'dead' and not 'good' I had another lash at News Alert which is 4-5-0 from 9 starts on 'dead'.
