The King's Stand Stakes, the five-furlong highlight of the opening day of Royal Ascot, has been upgraded from Group Two to Group One status.
The race has been increasing in profile thanks to its position as part of the Global Sprint Challenge.
The European Pattern Committee, which met in Paris last week, have made further changes:
The Glorious Stakes at Goodwood (1m 4f) is upgraded from Listed to Group Three; The John of Gaunt Stakes at Haydock (7f) is upgraded from Listed to Group Three; The Princess Royal at Ascot is upgraded from Group Three to Group Two and transfers to Newmarket's Champions' meeting under a new name; The Group Three Bentinck Stakes (6f) transfers to Ascot from Newmarket and will be run as the Bengough Stakes at their October meeting; The Listed Harvest Stakes (12f) changes its name to the Princess Royal Stakes; The Group Two Temple Stakes transfers from Sandown to Haydock and sees a boost in prize money to £100,000.
