Once again Tatts had another predictable 'no takeout' race on the weekend. The Lightning Stakes , where Black Caviar was a 'long odds on' favourite winning.Even with a 'no takeout' they will still get the benefit of paying to the lower 10 cents.

It is clear when a 'long odds on' favourite wins they declare that race a 'no takeout' race as the winning punters receive a bonus of no more than 10 cents in the dividend over other TABs. Punters, however, should  be aware that before launching into backing any horse in the race other than the favourite, Tatts will only declare the race a 'no takeout' if the favourite wins.

A rather pointless exercise.  blush

Can someone tell me why Unitab is now called Tatts? The website still shows Unitab as the name. Is this an official name change to Tatts?

They started rebranding a while back - racingandsports.com.au had the story.

I cant believe it is actually legal for this "no take out policy" to occur!

This would be open to all kinds of rorts and "insider trading" type deals.

ALL punters MUST be told before the race

It is fairly obvious which race will be declared a "no takeout' race, so, if you are a punter who likes to back long odds on favourites, take the punt, and if your selection wins, you will receive that '10 cent bonus' in your dividend.

BTW, I do not expect you will survive on the punt to take advantage of the '10 cent bonus' one or two years down the track if you keep backing long odds on favourites.

what what happened to my thread on no takeout races on Tatts ?

I have found it under the obscure link " betting, tips & ratings "..why was it categorised as such ?
That category is not even on the headline banner at top of this webpage.

For the record, it is not always the long odds on favs although usually.

Personally I rarely bet favourites at all and maybe twice a year horses slightly in the red that I rate much shorter.

My point is there is seemingly 1 person who has the power to choose at his/her will when they will remove the takeout on any race they choose without having to tell anyone
It is open to corruption.

That is a good question?

Personally I only ever go to All Topics.
When I start a new thread I don't choose where it goes.
How is that decided?

Well there you go!

I have never "chosen". I just click on New Topic from the All Topics page
Having just checked, "Racing Talk"  came up as a default and obviously I have never started a thread that wasn't racing related.

Is it a bonus to the customers or is it a sneaky dig at the Corps or BF who are offering bonuses about the tote odds?
