Peter Toole in critical condition in hospital

JOCKEY Peter Toole is understood to be in critical condition in hospital following a fall at Aintree on Grand National Saturday.

Toole suffered a heavy fall when his mount, outsider Classic Fly, fell early in the John Smith's Maghull Novices' Chase.

Charlie Mann, to whom Toole is attached as a conditional jockey, wrote onhis Twitter account at around 7pm on Saturday: "Peter Toole being kept under sedation in hospital [with] possible head injuries."

Toole was taken to the nearby Fazakerley Hospital and was subsequently transferred to the neighbouring Walton Centre Centre For Neurology & Neuro Surgery, where he was being treated on Saturday night.
