For several years now it's been traditional for forumites to meet up at the Brekky Creek Hotel for some beer, beef, betting and bull-shitting, on the Friday before Australia's richest sprint, the AAMI Stradbroke at Eagle Farm.
This year's event will be held at the Brisbane Racing Sports and Social Club at Ascot, right near Eagle Farm.
Its location will suit those staying in motels adjacent to EF. Food and drink will be cheaper, and the Club is more punter friendly (than is BCH).
We won't have the sumptuous steak for which BCH is famous but I'd be optimistic we'll see a decent rump on the day.
Everyone's welcome. BRC members just need to bring along their BRSSC card. Visitors need to sign in.
I know some will need releases from their carer, or permission from their grandmother, or it will all depend on the weather, and whether it rains in the lead-up, blah, blah.
Forget the crap: just GET THERE.

Sounds good. Everybody is welcome of course. Hopefully we can have a win on the Friday and a crack at a few quaddies on the Sat like we did a few years ago. Sponsorship is always wlecome!

For anyone that does not know--this event is a hoot. A lot of forumites turn up--most are from Brissie regions--and we give a bit of slack for that--they are poor--and need support--for the out of towners--well--we support the event--by plane trips and accomodation and help the cause to help them pick winners--see--they think--brissie horses--are the --be all & end all--of winners--so we assist in the overall cause--in tipping winners. Most occasions--most Brissie ites--say--thanks for your visit--we have learn't more---well--I can say--that is OK |

Usually get carried out after the function so not sure if I'll be a starter at the casino, but will catch up on Straddie day.

Are you turning up Grats ??--would be great to catch up again. Wouldn't mind turning up to see Richochet and his friends again as well as yourself. Be good to meet Proud Dad also one day. Also interested to see the new venue one day , but in saying that, I'm losing my hearing more and more and don't drink, so it really doesn't suit me. The betting side of the day is great fun and we have had some success doing that but overall I probably won't bother. I'm sure a great day will be had by all. |

Just been for my walk and on second thoughts I might call in for awhile if I'm on that side of town , which I am on some Fridays. DD, just a couple of questions. Is that the bowls club? Is the Tab area better than the BCH? I tend to think the BCH Tab is the worst I've seen And how much do you put in each for the punting these days? Oh, do they have pokies in case Robyn comes with me? |
