despite the papers showing that Alan Chau is riding several horses today, that is definately NOT the case. He has been replaced in all cases, one or two of them still to be notified.

Unbelievable, Gary Davies from TAB sportbet just appeared on Sky, with markets for todays jockeys challenge at ARMIDALE. Tim McIntosh is fav at $3.20, Glen Lynch is $3.50, Samantha Munro is $4.50, and ALAN CHAU is quoted at $51   shocked shocked shocked  You can have a million to one from me  lol  And it's no mistake, he even read out Chau's name and quoted the price

ALLAN CHAU - currently leading the jockeys’ premiership on the Mid North Coast, is in a serious condition in Port Macquarie Base Hospital after a fall at Port Macquarie on Saturday [9 April 2011].

Chau broke two vertebrae in his neck, the C4 and C5, fractured four ribs and broke another when he was thrown over the head of Glenrock Doney soon after the start of the Class Three (2000m), and was then trampled by the horse.

Chau’s manager, Graeme Flyght, said doctors were still trying to decide whether or not to fly Chau to Sydney for further specialist treatment.

“They are waiting on the results of some extra scans before making a decision,” Flyght said. “In the long-term Allan will be fine. He has full use of his arms and legs and will be able to eventually return to riding.”

Trainer Matthew Robinson, who was relying on Chau to help maintain the stable’s strike rate at Taree on Tuesday, said he had spoken with Chau for several minutes at lunchtime today [Monday, 11 April 2011].

“He seemed in pretty good spirits considering what has happened to him,” Robinson said.

The fall has dented the euphoria of Robinson’s run of success in recent months, most of which he has shared with Chau. They were to have combined with three of Robinson’s four Taree runners and those rides have now gone to Robbie Brewer.

“The stable is really firing and I don’t want it stop,” Robinson said. “Hopefully we can keep it going until Allan gets back.””

Robinson’s four runners are Luck And Fun (Winning Post Function Centre Maiden), Strands Of Joy (Cullen Holden Maiden), Bindifield (Saxbys Soft Drinks Class Three) and the in-form Aberdoi (NBN Television Benchmark 55). Brewer will ride all but Strands of Joy
