We have a long running thread for NSW Country racing. Let's have one for Victorian Country racing  biggrin

There is a very good free resource on the internet, with Best Bets showing TVN replays a few days after the meeting is run. Membership to Best Bets is free, and the replays cover all Victorian racing shown on TVN plus the Sydney metro replays.

I thought that Pakenham Race 3 #3 Hearts And Flowers looked a good thing. The run at Moonee Valley looked impressive on the replay after getting well back early. Was beaten by Arinosa last start who ran a good 4th at Caulfiled on Saturday. Looks too good for these. #2 Wickiup looks the obvious danger but is weak at the finish. Caved in in only the last 150m last start. Wickiup is the early favourite on all 3 totes, which surprises.

ORONERO could be hard to beat in the City of W'bool.   He's backing up quickly after his unlucky run at Caulfield on Saturday for Mick Kent and he is well and truly up to this.  Looks reasonable value at $4.  MILES ABOVE was withdrawn the other day lame at the barrier. He's back in distance and drawn wide too.  Otherwise all that Orenero has to beat are those wily Western Districts stables that seem to take turns winning and only when you least expect them to.

Looked at some TVN replays for Race 4 at the Bool today.

#3 Mannopoly has form around Happy Patrick who was 2nd to the highly promising Silencio in the Gosford Guineas (LR) over 1200m. Good form over the short distances in his first campaign and hoping his class carries him here. On the replays he seems to be a good horse who puts in every time. Resumes today.

#1 Feeling Invincible did little wrong in his only start accounting for a small field. Form out of that race doesn't stand out. Resumes today.

#4 Tel Onnah also has done little wrong in two starts to date - providing you didn't take the odds on last start. Was a little disappointing there.

#2 Grassmere Mookta is an interesting one to look at in the replays. At his first start, produced a short, sharp burst to win his maiden here. 2nd start, produced a short sharp burst to go from the tail to the lead at Stawell, then promptly turned it up, jockey not even riding him out. Resumes today. Some maturity might see him put in his best here.

#9 Doubt She's Single is a Kavanagh cast off having her first start for the new stable today. Was unlucky two starts ago (geez, did Michael Rodd get suspended over that one?) but has had plenty of chances. #10 Choisira also a  place chance.

One thing that stands out is the weight spread. Top 3 have 59 kg in a 53 kg limit race. Can be a great equalizer, but little there in the form of those on the limit. Track listed as Slow atm.

Will have a roving banker trifecta, #3 from #1, #2, #4, #9, #10 and look at the odds a bit closer to race time.

Ononero scratched ... and who wins ?

one of those wily Western Districts stables that seem to take turns winning and only when you least expect them to.   Shrug

Great days racing to open with.  Anyone got anything for tomorrow ?

The Wangoom is a grand old race.  Arch Symbol and Stanzout have won this before.  Stanzout won from gate 3 last year.  He's drawn 16 tomorrow.

Arch Symbol is from one of those wily Western District stables and has drawn the pole.  He won the race in 2009 from gate 2 and was 4th last year behind Stanzout.  And he gets into this years race on the minimum.  He's 2 from 4 second up and 2 from 6 on slow tracks.  Despite being from a wily Western District stable only three of his 23 starts have been on his home track - the maiden he won on debut and his two Wangoom runs.  He's $26.

Happyendo is flying and will be hard to toss in the first.
Broken is a good hope in the Wangoom.

We need Rad's thoughts on this thread

Sorry guys, I haven't been all that active in the racing scene for a little while. In fact over the last 4 days I've been fishing (unsuccessfully) in the surf and at the Tambo River ... no computer, radio, form guide ... or 'keepers'! Just got back ...

I'm planning a gradual return to punting now, so will try and support the thread.

Cheers and good luck

Unfortunately the future of jumps racing might suffer another big MAYBE after the Grand Annual.
