This bloke should have a thread of his own if he hasn't already got one.

A terrific Stradbroke trial run yesterday.
Admittingly he had every thing in his favour yesterday in regards to track conditions and he does excel at Doomben but the long wide straight at Eagle Farm will suit him even better I would imagine.

Don't think I have ever seen a faster finishing effort on a Brisbane track yet.

Rob Heathcote could be sitting pretty with 2 excellent chances in the Straddie.

Another great run by this fellow, yesterday.

Nothing went right, and he can certainly be regarded as 'unlucky'.

When our bloke got to the track we walked him around the bullring for a while and Woorim was right behind us having a stroll before the starddie.

Took some pics with the phone but they didn't come out to good.

dd you might have to reduce the size of your picture.

hope the forumite sent Browne a kiss today . love Brown should take note

unfortunately carrying that weight , think just means skipping the 10 000 was a big mistake( as i stated at the time ) - was the perfect race for him, as the small field would have meant little traffic problems

guess they tht Hay list was turning up , but big mistake in hindsight

Really like to see him take on gp 1 WFA with smaller fields , with his sprint - Divine Madonna style

One super run from this horse today.

Arguable not comfy in the ground, humping weight, and hard ridden from the outset.

One of Australia's best - and he'll show that in the Spring.

I had him going for a squillion in the straddy but couldnt back up with the wet, the weight and marble Sad

He certainly will feature in the spring.

Can he get a mile and take on the Epsom?

wily, I'd think absolutely no problem at a mile.

At the end of a long campaign last year, Heathcote ran him over 1810 at EF (2MW) and 2020 at Dbn (Open).  Stathi rode him in both, and he was on the mimimum.  In his EF run he began quite well and settled midfield.  Bugsy got a nice run, and beat Woorim a length.  But he ran on very well, albeit not with the super sprint we have seen over shorter trips.  Over the 2020 at Dbn he settled last, and just wouldn't go early.  Was way back, and ran on just fairly into midfield.

Give him a draw, and he doesn't need to be way back, IMO.  But his style of racing means he'll always need space to finish off, so going back might be the preferred option.  It also seems that on some days - and yesterday was one of them - he won't go early.  If ever he gets himself sorted out, we're gonna see something.

If he was mine  I would give him a month off, forget Sydney and the early part of the Spring and have him ready for  the mile race on the last day of the Femington carnival 3rd or 4th up where invariably it is a pack of tired horses waiting to be beaten by a fresh horse at its peak.

I'd think that's exactly what Heathcote would do.  His runs last year showed he was certainly up to Melbourne Spring class. Thumb Up

The champ is set to resume on Saturday at Dbn in a highly-rated sprint at Doomben (scaled -2kg).  He's been asked to carry 61 kg. chin
