You really have to wonder about the QLD Stewards after they declared Free Wheeling a starter in the Sires today.
The horse jumped up in the barrier before the gates opened.
An absolute pathetic judgement by them  bleh  Thumb Down

Yes, but the horse you backed was in the wrong

In the stewards opinion he was in the wrong, the wording of the rule is disgraceful.

Sorry, GW, I am a bit slow.

This thread is HT bagging the stewards.
He then bags your comment, to which you reply he won't bag a male, so I assume the stewards are female??

I lost $1 in the dollar.

That horse rearing in the gate like it did is equivalent to your horse breaking down in the run, and or buck jumping and losing the jockey.

In all cases you lose your money, and have no right to getting your money back do you  what

The question is, did he go up in the air, before, or after the starter decided to start the race Matty, that is the correct question, and the answer is no he didn't stop

No worries DJH          love

I was trying to make the point that I voiced my opinion earlier in this thread which others have agreed with since.  However, I was the only one who copped an insult from Horace Trainer.

Interesting!

MajiC~,

I think you have nailed it--it is not the question--the horse reared before the gates opened---but the starter decided to start the race, the horse reared--then you are a starter---similar to the pacers--after a certain point--there is no going back.

You are looking at a split second between when the horse has gone up and the gates opened.

Has to be a runner IMO

I'll be taking a look at the head-on, but from my observations, the horses were in starter's hands, the button being pushed and FW's antics coincided, at least within the tolerance of human reflexes.

The horse was rightly declared a runner, IMO.

We have these incidents around Australia every so often.  Same result - unless the horse is being restrained - but some just don't seem to get it.

Surprising how some only get involved in discussions on racing in Queensland when they wish denigrate someone or something - ill-founded though it might be.

There are lots of threads around that accommodate things in a more positive vein.  Great Idea

Same thing happened last year in the same race--I talked to the starter about that at the cocktail party last year (before I got pissed)--Norton would atest to this---therefore--did not listern me.  I only try to assist.   lol

Seems, I'll have to have another chat to him on my yearly visit.   biggrin
