Watched the Brisbane version of OTR on replay.......imo the most entertaining one ever.

Obviously a live audience contributed significantly and if they have any sense this'll be the pattern to follow. thumbsup

Who am I was hilarious but they would still be there but for Rob Heatcote getting them thinking on the right track.

Maybe he had some help from the auidience..................Mal seemed alert to interjections.............happy to take whatever tips offered. beer

Hadley's still flogging SensaSlim despite Current Affair's expose that it's a touch...................saved me getting some. lol

Arsy

Yeh, it is a great show and isn't it good to see one of the real characters of racing, Miracle is now involved again and obviously loving it and making us all laugh. Radley is on a real winner with his style and presentation and Corey gives us a lot of common sense inside perspective into the industry. The three of them are a great combination.

I was glad to hear Radley voice his opinion on the barrier fiasco on Saturday and rightly so. There has been a lot of crap written on a different thread of this forum about the rights and wrongs of the decision, and at the end of the day it was the poor old mug punter that got screwed again. From looking at the photos on a different website, you cannot tell me that the horse had time to toss the rider out the back and then get down and have his front leg extending out of the front of the barriers, all in a split second. The starter should have seen this and held up the start. For the life of me I cannot understand why Bill Schuck was not the starter on one of the most important days of the year and if he is not available on such days, the starter from Doomben should be officiating.

I notice that a poll conducted by Racenet shows that around two thirds of people disagree with the decision, which I have to agree with.

Just watched a replay of OTR and was most interested in the interview with Maurice Logue re the possibility of forming an Academy for apprentice Jockeys and introducing a bit more discipline to their lives, something that I think is a great Idea and sorely needed but that is not what I would like to talk about, while I am all for Young Riders getting all the help and Guidance it never ceases to amaze me that Young potential trainers get absolutely Zero help from the industry, they serve anything from 10 to 20 years working for pretty basic wages, then when they want to start training they need  a King's ransom to set up shop,Jockeys require very little capital to establish themselves and buy the gear needed( by Comparison) even once established their overheads are far less than that of a trainer,  then the race Clubs charge them rent on any stables that they can access, why is it so lopsided?
On Top of that it is a Trainers responsibility to collect training fees from all their clients while Jockeys have no such problem, all the fees that Jockeys are entitled too is banked for them, if a Horse is scratched he still gets paid?? The little fellas reminds me a little a a cuddly Koala Bear, if you know what I mean,

I would just like to see the imbalance corrected just a little, don't mean do less for Jockeys but do more for trainers in the initial set up costs and introduce some form of Academy to help trainers learn about the industry so they don't have to wait until they are in their mid 30's before having the knowlege to get started(unless he/she is bred into the industry and comes from a training Dynasty) then some form of subsidy for the first 5 or so years of their career to help them get established, we are getting fewer and fewer trainers surviving and far too many production lines in my opinion, we will finish up with 2 or 3 stables filling up entire fields if we keep going the way we are, how is that healthy? what is the answer?

Apart from the time wasting cheerios segment I thought  today's replay was very entertaining. thumbsup

Tony Vasil was a very interesting guest with a great SOH.

He gave some little detail about Aquanita Racing which would have been worth following up as it's a unique concept most of us wouldn't be aware of it's inner workings.

Damien Oliver was in good form too and they showed a short preview of the up coming film The Cup...

Oliver's salute to his dead brother Jason as Media Puzzle raced past the post was a momentous emotional memory.

Interesting that Brendan Gleeson who plays the lead in the The Guard is Dermot weld in The Cup.

Settled down as usual this morning to watch OTR on replay ...they repeated last week's episode .

Whether it was a technical error or there wasn't a new episode this week there wasn't any explanation that I saw. shocked

The team broadcast from "over the ditch this week" liked the Asst coach of the All blacks Rugby team, Steve Hanson's comment about their victory in the World Cup. thumbsup

John Hawkes is a great person in my mind   Thumb Up

The fact he rates those as his favs over Occy and Lonhro says something.
His constant praising of his staff etc says a lot about him IMO.
Many like to think it is all them.
I can assure you in a racing stable, you NEED good staff!

As for the show itself, I have only watched the last 2 episodes, as I was told they were going to expose the disgraceful "Sunshine Coast photo fiasco".
Have they been gagged??

I have to say, the show doesn't have a "hook"

There is nothing there that makes me want to watch again.

The people on there are "personalities", but they don't give anyone anything to talk about!

What am I going to say to my mates tomorrow about the show??
Did you see when Corey mentioned......???
OR when Mal brought up......???

They could take a lesson off Phil Purser in creating a hook.

The cheerios are a waste of time except maybe to the recipients what percentage would they be?.......00001% maybe.

John Hawkes was good value almost like he had a dose of red cordial ...wound up and very good humoured.

But pleeeese listen to the "You know"s coming out of him something we all do intersperse our conversations with like phrases which mean nothing.

Hawkesy is the undisputed Champ...You Know.   lol

You know........   lol .............I would like to see them discuss some "meaty" topics of interest to all of us..............the racing viewers....instead of wasting time on silly cheerios.............such as ...........................

1)   spurs............do they help the horse win , what jockeys wear them, who doesn't..........what do the trainers think of them................should they be notified as "gear".................

2) photo finish controversies such as the most recent one which took 30 mins. to decide..........what Clubs have the most sophisticated cameras, who doesn't.......why not...........

3)  should stewards automatically investigate as a matter of procedure - winners who have no previous form and then suddenly win at 50/1, 75/1 100/1 etc. etc.

4)  What do trainers/jockeys/owners think of cushion tracks? Is the percentage of injuries more or less on cushion?

Seems to be heaps of topics they could discuss without wasting time on "fluff"!

What other "meaty" topics can be added to this list?     what
