Anyone have any idea whether this beautiful horse is on track for Melb again or is he out/gone/spelling?
Can't seem to find anything on web...excuse my ignorance if I've missed anything obvious.

If you watch the replay, he looked really good in the last 100-200m. He had the sit off Manighar and one stage, the leaders and Satipadi seemed to outsprint him around the 400m before he knuckled down. I am not sure if he has the ability to outsprint horses over a shorter distance especially off a slow pace. He needs a decent rev up becaus his final sprint is devastating.

They only outstripped him because Mosse had not fully let him go yet. Look how hard the other jockeys are working on their mounts in comparison.

Ah Jeunes, you must be the same sort of vintage as me. Won a LOT of money when Skybeau ran third in the Cup. All too long ago now though.

Mosse said he was prepared for the slow pace but was mindful that Americain's lack of acceleration could have left him vulnerable for a home straight sprint.

"From the 400 metres to the 300 metres he has a flat spot and I have to respect him," Mosse said.

"I just showed him my whip to say `You better go now because if not I am going to use it'.

"Then he toots his engine horn and in three strides he comes next to them and I know the game is over."

Interesting today on Retro Hoss indicated the new trainer likely to be "in the country" he mentioned Anthony Freedman,David Hayes and D K Weir in that order.
Whoever gets the horse Stephanie the number one strapper comes too the second string Louise is going home to family and boyfriend.

I expect the owners are paying the bill for her and arranging work visas .

I think it would be in the horses' best interest if he really did retire after th Sydney Autumn. I hear where one of the owners said he will be a long time retired and maybe they might go for another Cup. Well he'd also be a long time dead - just ask Bart about Viewed - one preparation too many.

With the mysterious death of some of our good horses in Australia lately, it might pay not to go to the well too often.

That's hardly a good example, Viewed had a twisted bowel and was spelling at the time at Think Big Stud.

Anthony Freedman or get his handler to take out a license and liaise with Alain de Royer Dupre.

Go for Bart. He may get a couple of G1s and move closer to TJ's tally.
