Have run 9 challenges to date, and 7 have been successful, i.e. we ended up with more than we started with.

Based on carryover balance from last series, Share Value is $58.

Staking plan will be similar to previous Challenges.   There will be a series of 10 bets with a base unit of $5.80 each/per share.

Bets will be PLACE ONLY and will usually be on a Wednesday or Saturday on Brisbane races. I pick the horses, and reserve to right to back more than one horse.

1. For the first 5 bets (#1 to #5), any return from the bet is distributed evenly among the remaining bets, thus increasing the base stake beyond $5.80.  Say bet #2 gives a return of $16, we add $2 to the stake for each of the remaining 8 bets.

2. For bets #6 to #9, should they be successful we RETAIN THE STAKE, but distribute the PROFITS evenly among the remaining bet/s.

3. Obviously for bet #10 we keep any return.

Hopefully we'll end up with a share value of more than $58.  But there's a risk that I will lose a bit, or lose the LOT.

I'll post the bets on this thread, and keep a running sheet.

We now have 25 shareholders and $3 in kitty.  Starting Bank = $1450

Bet #1 $145 - 06.07.11 RETURN =  $112 BANK = $1417 [SAFE = $3]
Bet #2 $158 - 09.07.11 RETURN =  $111 BANK = $1370 [SAFE = $3]
Bet #3 $172 - 13.07.11 RETURN = $234 BANK = $1432 [SAFE = $3]
Bet #4 $206 - 16.07.11 RETURN = $146 BANK = $1372 [SAFE = $3]
Bet #5 $231 - 23.07.11 RETURN = $73 BANK = $1214 [SAFE = $3]
Bet #6 $245 - 27.07.11 RETURN = $459 BANK = $1183 [SAFE = $248]
Bet #7 $297 - 30.07.11 RETURN = $442 BANK = $1031 [SAFE = $545]
Bet #8 $345 - 03.08.11 RETURN = $203 BANK = $686 [SAFE = $748]
Bet #9 $344 - 06.08.11 RETURN = $491 BANK = $489 [SAFE = $1092]
Bet #10 $489 - 13.08.11 RETURN = $468 BANK = $0 [SAFE = $1560]

FINAL SHARE VALUE = $62.40, OR A PROFIT OF 7.5% shy

Anything you fancy in race 7 for the treble? Gentle giant maybe?

DD this comp was meant to be a money laundering sump and making of a profit is undesirable.  As an investor I now have to declare that 7.5% as income and probably have to pay company tax and GST.

Pleaseeeeeee think of others when you make selections that win toooooooo much.

Ascot, this was offered as an alternative to your Super Fund.  I guess it should start losing if it is to be competitive. Sad

I've asked shareholders to limit deposits to 6 figures. Thumb Up

It's one thing to back a loser on the punt, but gee it hurts more when ya get way over the odds about a fancy and they don't get a fair run.

We had $3.30 about HAIZUM - I'd got some on at $3.40 and some at $3.20 - and he started equal favourite at around $4.50 the win.

He didn't jump cleanly and was then held up, to finish on the heels of the placegetters.

While this was in Round 10, when such things happen early in the series the multiplication factor makes them serious losses.
