Authorised you seem to be harking back to flimsy timeform ratings, sub par UK races and generally Euro  horses as if it is the benchmark, it isn't,  Sea The Stars never raced outside Europe either.
So what if Rip Van Winkle was beaten a length by Sea The Stars, he was towelled 17 lengths by Zenyatta in the USA and more than 7 by Goldikova in his own backyard.

What timeform rating did Zenyatta as opposed to Sea The Stars???

Timeform ratings are a unit measurment for breeding purposes slanted in a chronically biased direction in favour of European horses, they are not a unit for measuring the quality of a race or racehorses worldwide, they are without meaning.

Caitano was not a horse capable of winning at Group 1 level anywhere else in the world, not just " not up to Group1 level in Europe."

Jackal,

Why are you so anti European racing?

It's the sanctimony that goes with it I find tedious.

I agree more than disagree - UK experts seem to be overtly hung up on deriving the figure. It's a rating just like any other rating achieved under specific set of conditions.

Yes he did in the Man O War, which isn't anywhere near the race the Arlington Million as you will soon see.

Caitano ran 4th in the Arlington Million. Who are the two who ran 2nd and 3rd ? This years Man O War was an infinitely better race depth wise than the Arlington that Silvano won. THAT DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY MEAN that Silvano is better or worse than Cape Blanco.

Cape Blanco's next race is scheduled to be the Arlington Million on August 13. A win or a loss there will not mean he is better or worse than Silvano.

The Man O War reference was in regard to Cape Blanco.
Silvano's Arlington Million contained 3 horses that at some stage in their careers ran in the Cox Plate.

I'm failing to see the depth you speak of in Cape Blanco's Man O War.

Were there any horses in the Man O War field this year that proved themselves even as good as old Caitano on an international level?

Gio Ponti has been quite successful domestically but has never been placed anywhere else.

What did Zenyatta achieve internationally ?

That is just a crazy argument.

We all know Zenyatta was a super star she did not need to leave the States for us to know that.

Everybody knows Black Caviar is the best sprinter in the world. She does not need to leave Victoria to prove that.

Yes she does, it's pure speculation otherwise.
There will be people with the same sort of insular thinking that believe Rocket Man, and others are the best and that she isn't any better than previous stars like Sacred Kingdom and Silent Witness.
Personally I think she probably is, because consistently beating up on horses like Cape Of Good Hope, Green Birdie and Happy Zero just doesn't prove much either.
But then it could be said that BC has beaten nothing of note as well.

A strong case could be made for the South African sprinter being the best over the last 12 months.
