Another comp to keep the grey matter ticking over.         biggrin

"The Riddle Master"

How to play.
Simply fill in the blanks & then answer the riddle.
Each Clue could be a phrase, a saying, a song or anything really.
Each . is a character.
Once you have filled in the blanks, read the words in order & they will be a riddle which can be solved with a bit of pondering.

When you think you know the answers to the clues, you can post them or keep them to yourself (but you won't know if they correct unless you post.)
I will confirm the correct answers to each Clue in the header post each day.

DO NOT EDIT YOUR POSTS, AS I WILL NOT BE LOOKING AT OLD POSTS.
ALWAYS POST A NEW ONE.

You can ask questions about a clue but I may or may not reply or give out a new clue till the next day/night. (depends if I'm around)

When you think you know the Final Answer, simply post it. The 1st person to post the correct answer is the Riddle Master.

By the way, the Final Answer is the name of a neddy.  (well just about)

PRIZE
The first correct post shares with me in a $20 Quaddie(on Tattsbet) this Saturday. You pick the state. (You get to pick 2 selections in each leg & I'll throw a few in for good measure.
If we win, then we share the ticket less the stake.
Eg. Ticket pays $200 less stake $20= $180 / 2 = $90 each.)
Good Luck!

FINAL ANSWER:

Example of how it works

The Clues reveal the words (each dot is one character) 'I' 'Love' 'Bananas'
The Final Answer could be "Monkey"

The Ming Dynasty, also Empire of the Great Ming, was the ruling dynasty of China from 1368 to 1644, following the collapse of the Mongol-led Yuan Dynasty. The Ming, "one of the greatest eras of orderly government and social stability in human history", was the last dynasty in China ruled by ethnic Han Chinese. Although the Ming capital Beijing fell in 1644 to a rebellion led by Li Zicheng who established the Shun Dynasty, which was soon replaced by the Manchu-led Qing Dynasty, regimes loyal to the Ming throne (collectively called the Southern Ming) survived until 1662.

Ming rule saw the construction of a vast navy and a standing army of one million troops. Although private maritime trade and official tribute missions from China had taken place in previous dynasties, the tributary fleet under the Muslim eunuch admiral Zheng He in the 15th century far surpassed all others in size. There were enormous construction projects, including the restoration of the Grand Canal and the Great Wall and the establishment of the Forbidden City in Beijing during the first quarter of the 15th century. Estimates for the late-Ming population vary from 160 to 200 million.

Emperor Hongwu (r. 1368–98) attempted to create a society of self-sufficient rural communities in a rigid, immobile system that would have no need to engage with the commercial life and trade of urban centers.
