As mentioned elsewhere, Tattsbet made a monumental boo-boo this afternoon in putting up a pay-2 market on a pay-3 race (Doomben Race 2).
You would not need to hold a PhD in pure maths to make a punting book (PLACE only) that could not lose.
Let's run a small comp. I'll look in my bottom drawer to find a small prize for the winner.
1. You have a hypothetical $1000 to outlay for the PLACE, at the fixed odds shown below. Back 1 horse, or back them all.
2. The winner will be the person who ends up with the best payout. (In the event of SCRs, the Tattsbet deductions will apply.)
3. In the event of a dead-heat, the first posted will be the winner.
4. Entries close 12:45 Saturday.
Good luck.LITTLE STRANGER is SCR. Deduction is 13c in the $1.

Lots of winners.
Dunno why you guys don't bet PLACE ONLY more often.
Calgary has won with $3828.
Didn't take the approach I was expecting, but gets the choccies. PP nailed it, with virtually no risk of losing.
I'll take a $50 quaddie on Ekka Wednesday at EF, and calgary's 50/50.
If I forget, PLEASE REMIND ME.
Congrats to Calgary.

I hesitated when scoring your post, woobia. And honestly, I didn't know that it involved Drumshanbo.
Punting is tough. Forum comps are tough.

Thanks heaps DD - only just checked the thread but thought I might have come close on the day. Realise the idea was to try and make a balanced book but was short on time so just thought I'd plumb for one in the middle of the field odds wise. Not being a QLD I'm not sure when Ekka Wednesday is but I am right in saying it is next week?

Well, no cause for excitement there. No hard luck stories. I could have had $500 worth and still missed it.
Next time, calgary.
