Was it this forum that had a best lay of the day comp?

Went for four weeks(or whatever) and who was still alive and had the lowest points was the winner.

If your pick for the day got up you are out.
If your pick loses your score is what the horse was showing on the tote as they jumped and you continue on to next week.

Only played on a Saturday.

Is it worth a try?   I for one don't want to put up a prize but feel free to do so if you think it is worth it.

Any suggestions . Will bump this a few times before Saturady so let us know if you would be interested.

The problem lies in determining the best lay.  Which price?  SP, TAB, Betfair???

It'll eventually come down to a fraction of a point.  And the price when ya nominate the "lay" will be way different to the price it runs at.

The guys who get credit are those who give sound reasons for the lay - not just, "this is 2s on, and I lay all odds-on pops".  Take a read of Friday Night Freebie.  You'll see reasons why WTR was a sound lay, IMO, last week.

Leave it to your considerable comp-running experience to resolve.

Might have been our mate Old Larsy that run this on the Village forum.  Seemed pretty popular but we might just leave it to them as I cannot remember the finer details

gratlog, it might work, but get the Rules right.

There's the risk it'll just end up as who posts the shorter horse first, hoping it'll get beaten.

Don't know what made me even think about this but here is the general idea if I can explain it.

The comp goes for four weeks.  Each week you have to post your lay of the day but if at anytime this wins you are eliminated.

If you make it thru to the last week then whoever has the lowest score is the winner.

Say that Work The Room was showing $2.20 on Unitab at the jump last week well that would be your score for that week and you would go thru to week two.

I suppose you could nominate a $20 shot each week but after four weeks your score would be $80 .

Maybe also have it that if everyone is out after week two then the lowest score would be the winner.

Might not be a good idea but just throwing up there as something a bit different

Might be worth a try one day if anyone wants to give it a go.
