I had a strange encounter today. I wanted to have a modest bet on one horse in the CC and do a multi on the same horse in the MC.

I try sports bet and they will not allow this.  I contacted them and asked why--and they come back with this classic "Well, if the horse wins the CC the odds for the same horse in the MC will shorten much more--well  wacko--you are a bookie thats what I want to do now. So could not get on at present.

Go to the TAB to do a multi on CC & MC and they do not have a market for the MC as yet.

Betfair have single markets but no double market.

Why can't I get a CC/MC double on at present ?

Any advice/comments appreciated.

TAB can't offer a MC market in NSW till the noms are out. This is due to legislation in NSW.

In response to doubles for the same horse, most bookies do that because I tried that a few years ago and instead of 400/1, I had 250 or 300 to 1.

I find it easier to just have fun all up bets such as this.

Every time I walk into a club I risk a dollar.

They always have special LOW odds if you take the same horse to win both Cups.
Bookies betting the Cup markets have been pathetic in giving out poor odds these days. Twenty years ago you'd get fairly big odds (as there is a chance your horse won't even make the field) favs would go up at 12-16/1. These days the fav is
6-10/1 which is poor considering you're betting the race 3 months out.

They're a bit of fun if you want a small dabble but limit the horses to 2 in CC & 2 in the Melb Cup. But be warned that if you have 1 scr in each race, then yu've already lost 3/4 of your bet. bleh

yep jeunes is right - can get on the cup through vic tab but not on nsw tab to do different regulations. If you back something on vic tab (tab.com.au) and its not nominated you'll get a refund

Well its got a bloody big cemetery there but the rest of the joint looks like it could
