Racing Victoria
Those unable to attend this Sunday night’s Victorian Thoroughbred Racing Awards presented by Tabcorp at Crown’s Palladium won’t miss out on seeing the stars crowned.
Racing Victoria (RV) and Staging Connections, sponsor of the Victorian Racehorse of the Year award, have joined forces to organise a live webcast of Victorian racing’s night of nights.
The broadcast, which can be viewed at
http://viostre.am/VTRA 14 AUG 2011, commences at 7.30pm and will include the showdown between Black Caviar and So You Think.
The two champions, who will never meet on the racetrack, are locked in battle for the coveted title of Staging Connections Victorian Racehorse of the Year, which will be announced this Sunday night.
The award, which is voted on by members of the Victorian racing media, takes into account a horse's performances on Victorian racetracks only from 1 August 2010 to 31 July 2011.
The Peter Moody-trained Black Caviar and Bart Cummings-trained So You Think each had six starts in Victoria last season for four Group 1 victories apiece with the latter's Emirates Melbourne Cup third the only defeat between them.
They comprise a quarter of the contenders for the award that has been won by Miss Andretti, Weekend Hussler, Scenic Blast and 12 months ago by the Moody-trained Typhoon Tracy.
Other major awards to be presented are the Scobie Breasley Medal presented by Tabcorp, the Fred Hoysted Medal presented by Radio Sport National and the Tommy Corrigan Medal presented by Thoroughbred Racing Productions.
