All,

There was a joke about the blonde asking the professor about having children with her looks and his brains..... to which he responded what if it gets your brains and my looks!

In general however mixing types does not work out too well. Different muscle types, comformation and even bone thickness all play a role and when you compromise that you compromise the end result.

Mate they are both thoroughbreds,,,they are the same type ain't they? lol   lol
And whatever happened to ' breed your mare to what she hasn't got herself', another good ole one told to me here from the experts.?
This colt has as much chance as any of em...it's a friggin lottery and we all know it.
Anyone see the article in the Australian re 'the class of 08' (ie the million dollar plus yearlings)...devastating results, only Mettalurgical has repaid
about 1/4 profit but most have returned near zilch. I think only 4 or 5 out of 30 have won city class etc.
Ouch!!

Refer to the thread "The Million Dollar Yearlings" contained within this topic.

The "success" of million dollar babies remains debatable.

Makybe diva

Makybe Diva and her latest foal, a colt by racetrack rival turned gun sire Lonrho. Picture: David Goudie. Source: Supplied

THIS little chestnut colt with the white blaze could be the most valuable foal born anywhere in the world this year.

He is the result of a dream mating between two champions, Lonhro and Makybe Diva.

The colt, who is only 10 days old, is already estimated to be worth between $2-$3 million.

Lonhro and Makybe Diva were last decade's most dominant - and popular - racehorses.

The two champions won 41 races between them - 18 at Group One level - and amassed more than $20 million in prizemoney.

Lonhro, crowned Australia's champion stallion last month, and Makybe Diva, are not exactly strangers either.

They met once on the racetrack when Lonhro won a memorable Australian Cup in 2004. Makybe Diva ran fourth.

Triple Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva has now produced four foals.

I'm a bit surprised that this foal is a chestnut, as Lonhro normally really stamps his features on his progeny. Makybe Diva was a bay (if my memory is correct!), so can someone tell me if this is an unusual occurrence, or quite normal in the world of thoroughbred breeding?

El Dufus the foal is actually a bay.
If you look closely the caramel colour you see on his legs will eventually be the 'black stockings' you see which along with other black points,( mane etc ) makes a horse a bay. He already has dark tail and forelock in photo.
You could not get a chestnut from this mating.

OK, thanks SL - I was just responding to the Authorized comment about it being a chestnut.
