A horror from Oli.

Should have been ridden like the winner.

Tried to be too cute.

After following REKINDLED INTEREST for ages finally dropped off yesterday - so no surprise to see it win !

But I reckon he pretty much had his birthday, everything going right for him, all the others getting mucked up in a mess whilst he sat off the back of them.

Still dubious about him going on and being a major player...

Likewise turf - but might not need to be a world beater in what is looking a very weak year.

I think it is quite unfair to blame Olly for WBGY's defeat, he drew 5 where the winner drew 10, the winner had 2 choices, go forward or go right back, the decision was really made for him(it was a good ride though), horses like Linton and WBGY etc didn't want to just pull back to last and give up 5 lengths without reason, they had to rely on luck, if that American horse Unusual Suspect had dropped off a little earlier as D Oliver would have expected Olly gets out on the turn and would have just about won the race and it been lauded as a great ride, similar with Linton from the rails Barrier he had no opportunity to build any momentum either

Don't blame the Jockeys blame the goat track, you either lead on the fence or sweep wide, only the leader or the sweeper can win, if you have drawn inside and can't lead and win you need a hell of a lot of luck, which rarely comes, even if you can get a run in the straight you need terrific acceleration to win as the winning post is practically on the home turn!! biggrin

Unbelievable to think they can call a race the WFA championship of Australia and hold it on a track that even goats wouldn't feel comfortable on!! even more unbelievable is that a lot of Punters buy it!! biggrin

Who thinks Fields Of Omagh would have won 2 Cox Plates if the race had been held on any other track on the Planet???? smiley

Fields Of Omagh only won 3 of 9  starts at the Valley, hardly a track specialist.
Whobegotyou 5 wins from 8 starts at the Valley.

What other track is as fundamentally unfair?? Last meeting leaders on the fence had a tremendous advantage, the fence was on fire! This time with the rail in the true a large majority of the horses were unlucky??? there is a difference between Sandown and Flemington, Rosehill and Randwick but basically every horse gets it's chance and only a small minority are unlucky,

Winning multiple Cox Plates should mean you are a Champion ie Sunline/Northerly/Kingston Town/Tobin Bronze/Phar Lap/Chatham etc

FOO won 2 Cox Plates purely because he liked the track and his opposition didn't, he wouldn't get close to Lonhro anywhere else,

The trouble with Mooney Valley that makes it different from other tracks is any bad luck(even minor bad luck 600 from home) and it is virtually impossible to win, other tracks and you can overcome minor trouble and still win

At Mooney Valley momentum is a lot more important than anywhere else, I see some think Whobe wasn't unlucky but they are not taking Mooney Valley into account, the same run anywhere else and his excuse was minor and would not have stopped him from winning, at MV he had no momentum when he got out whereas the winner(and second horse) had their Momentum up and appeared to be going better than Whobe, when in fact it was the momentum that was the difference

I rarely bet there unless I get huge overs and the bets are relatively small anyway

Sundown lakeside is leader bias 9 out 10 meets,

Caulfield is leader bias unless they go fast out in front.

Flemington is very biased dependent on the wind.

I tend to agree with what you say but just not to the degree that youve made out,
The Valley track is a unique shape yes but it's not like it changes shape & conditions mid race, trainers, jockeys & punters  know going in what they are in for,
